Patrick Lyons stands in the middle of a Dumpster, staring at a can of meat. "I don't know who eats this stuff," he says. He chucks the can aside and keeps on digging.

Who says freegans can't be choosy?

Sick people. I should find some of these people and throw a few raw t-bones at them...

Doesn't appeal to me, but I don't have a problem with it, either.

It would be better if stores gave away the food they can't use or sell to homeless shelters.

"Lyons is a freegan"

Lyons is a freegan "_______________" - insert word of choice.

The most deadly, agressive, irrational beasts on the planet are vegans. Dairy bulls and hippos are among them. So, once upon a time, was Adolph Hitler!

As Long as these nuts are fairly scarce they might make it, But 200 million Americans cant survive living off Dumpsters. Not that they would want to. And a lot of good products are thrown away because the sell by date is reached. Not a thing wrong with many of these products.

I'd have a lot of enjoyment poking fun at these people, except that in the mid-80s, I was homeless in Florida, and was eating out of dumpsters to survive... So, I guess I'll just say that I disagree with their politics, but they ain't really hurting anyone, so...

Eating garbage and violating other people's property rights while wrecking government vehicles.

It's a wealthy society indeed that can afford such parasites.

"I was tortured three times and beaten 13 times in San Francisco," he says.

Yeah. Sure. And they watch you with satellites too.

Society's view of garbage is that it's no longer anything but trash; it's dirty."

Oh come on. Is this tool attempting to say that we need a PC term for GARBAGE??? What makes garbage dirty is that it's in a dumpster! Mingling with other garbage!

BTW, isn't there a charity called Second Harvest that stores can donate food?? It's basically the same idea without taking the stuff out of the dumpster!

"After they beat me up, they ordered me to back my truck up into the space because they were going to arrest me," he says. "So, as I tried to back into the space, I hit one of their motorcycles. I didn't want to get back out of the car after that, so I just kept backing up, ran over the other one and left." McHenry tried to make a break for Washington State, but a roadblock stopped him.

"My public defender said there was no way he could defend me successfully for this case, so he urged me to jump bail and stay underground -- so that's what I did."

I read that and decided that the guy wasn't telling the truth.

"I was tortured three times and beaten 13 times in San Francisco," he says.

"What they do is they get two officers, one officer on each arm and each leg, and they have you face down, and they rip your arms and legs apart in opposite directions. That rips your tendons and ligaments but doesn't really leave too much of a bruise and you have no broken bones. And then they put you naked in a chain-link-fence box that's four feet high, four feet long and four feet wide. Your ligaments and tendons have been ripped and you can't stretch out. That happened to me three times."

I read that and figured out the man was certifiable. I can see people digging in dumpsters behind grocery stores for some vegetables and dented cans, and I really don't have a problem with it. But, the article states that the founder of the group started out stealing food from his employer. That just proves that the group and it's founder are just idiot activists who have no problem with theft.

Okay, if they want to eat only vegetables and feed less fortunate people, why not do something really radical like PLANT A GARDEN? Or buy a farm and pay workers with Room and vegetables?

"As an example of the absurd measures people take to protect their garbage..."

If a careless old bat can sue McDonald's for millions because of hot coffee burns, you think a ditsy young trespasser can't do the same thing?

They aren't protecting their garbage, they're protecting their assets. Of course, if you HAD assets, you'd know that!

As an example of the absurd measures people take to protect their garbage, he describes the scene behind the McDonald's at Main and Rosewood.

Absurd? McDonald's faces potential lawsuits for people getting injured dumpster-diving or for getting sick eating rotten food. Moreover, customers don't want to see the dumpster or people playing in the dumpster.
