A Paris court has ruled that an acclaimed new film by the director of Amelie is not French enough to vie for French prizes. Jean-Pierre Jeunet's A Very Long Engagement, a French story filmed in French, has drawn rave reviews.
But a court judged it was too American to compete in French film festivals, including Cannes.

It's really about money, the competitors dont want French subsidy money going to this project. Understandable, but not good for the nation.

So apparently Fahrenheit 9/11 was deemed French enough to compete at Cannes. No shock there, but now they tacitly admit it.
Not enough body hair on the women. Too much body hair on the men.
They should have had a snail sucking scene.
