Last week Laura Ingraham stated on her show that the Republican elite are not worried about the best interests of the USA. Michael Reagan, Michelle Malkin and many others have written recently to warn of the problems of illegal immigration and another "amnesty"
BTTT
Rep. J.D. Hayworth was on CNN this morning trying to convey why he and other republican congressmen are trying to get border/immigration provisions in the intelligence bill as recommended by the 911 commission and the 911 Families for a Safe America.
"
In contrast to past centuries, immigration levels are no longer closely tied to the business cycle. This does not mean that economic factors are entirely irrelevant. The higher standard of living in the United States compared with those in most sending-countries almost certainly plays an important role in encouraging immigration. But a much higher standard of living exists even during a recession. Moreover, people come to America for many reasons, including to join family, avoid social or legal obligations, take advantage of Americas social services, and enjoy greater personal and political freedom. Thus, even a prolonged economic downturn is unlikely to have a large impact on immigration levels. It also must be remembered that there has been no major change in the selection criteria used or numerical limits placed on legal immigration, even after the 9/11 attacks. Moreover, immigration enforcement efforts have actually become more lax in recent years.1 Lowering immigration levels would require enforcement of immigration laws and changes to the legal immigration system."
Everyone should read this recent report. One amazing chart shows periods of slowed economy vs. immigration. Immigration has always gone down in those times, not so this time. Illegals are taking the jobs of American citizens.

For those who think that all Hispanics favor uncontrolled illegal immigration (not you, MO!!!)
Interesting take from a loud mouth Bush Shill who hob nobbed the talk show circuit shamelessly promoting Bush as such a great president. Lots a luck trying to hold this One's feet to fire now that he no longer has to worry about an election...as if that stopped him from making his open borders agenda crystal clear in the first term.
I completely agree. Michelle's book, In Defense of Internment, details the WWII policy, and makes the case for tightening down on illegal immigration.
CALLER: Well, at least you don't have to put up with being called a "Hispanic Uncle Tom" and be relegated to have to write on a free shopper newspaper because no media will employ you unless you are writing about Hispanic topics. Or even just look at your Fox network. Look at the major networks. There are no Hispanic pundits that are conservative. There are no Hispanic conservative writers in any major media, and so the 45% of people who actually step up and voted for Bush are not represented anywhere that I can think of. "
I voted for Pres. Bush. I'd do it again. There are times for 3rd party candidates, and my hope is they will be a force in the future, as they have been in our past history, ie abolition, womens right to vote, etc. This election was not one of those times. Single issue voting is a dangerous exercise.
There actually is a conservative Spanish radio network popping up. I think it's "Radio Nuevo" or something similar on AM 1390 in L.A. I saw a bumper sticker for it but my memory has innacuracies.
This is true. More true than Republicans realize and more true than Democrats hope. I work with a lot of Mexican-Americans (contrary to my screen name I am Irish-American), and illegal immigration bothers them. However, since many of them have family in Mexico, the ability to visit and be visited by family, in Mexico or here, is a real concern. The party that catches onto this fact and provides for this concern, will get a larger portion of the "Hispanic" vote. To be able to visit "mi Padre` y mi Madre`, when they are sick, esta` muy importante`.

They are.
Visiting isn't a problem, if you do it a lot, just get a visa on a passport. I know someone from Brazil that spends just about all her vacation time here and renews the visa my mail in Brazil.
That's good news! We have many hispanic Americans here on FR who don't like the illegal invasion either. And we have a handful of the elites who could care less as long as it is profitible for the moment for them.
I know. Mexican-Americans don't like the recent wave of males cabrones coming around where they live. They are bums just like any other, except they happen to come from the south.
