Unless you don't think that being a stay at home mom or dad is a real job, we've always had two workers in every nuclear family.

Notice though that our standard of living is up is not in question. You are merely debating *how* we raised said standard of living now.

No, I maintain that our standard of living is at best flat and that it now takes 2 incomes to maintain a household instead of the 1 it used to take. Any increase is due to the neat new stuff invented in the last 40 years like PCs and DVDs.

One thing I have noticed the cost of beef is getting quite high. I am eating alot fewers steaks these days, but in the 70's I had steaks all the time.
