I think the phrase that sets us apart from others, other than our accent is, "fixin'to".
They look at us like we're not speaking the Kings English.
Oh well, such is the life Southerners...and we love our lives.

I remember the first time I met my sisters-in-law....they kept asking me to say, "y'all" over and over. "Agin?" I asked?
I love "Boy howdy!" Grampa used to say "them jaspers" when he was talking about no-accounts.

I think the phrase that sets us apart from others, other than our accent is, "fixin'to".Why? Nothing could exemplify correct Queen's English better than the sentence "I'm fixin' to go down town."
Well, that and the correct use of "You all", or "Y'all".
