Weapons cache biggest yet

American troops said yesterday they had uncovered the largest weapons cache to date in Fallujah, where Iraqi officials said more than 2,000 people died in the weeklong U.S.-led offensive aimed at curbing the insurgency so that elections could be held nationwide.

The Fallujah siege angered many in the influential Sunni minority, producing calls to boycott the vote, a move that could cost the new government much-needed legitimacy.

The weapons cache, described by the U.S. military as the largest uncovered so far in Fallujah, was discovered Wednesday in the Saad Bin Abi Waqas Mosque, where fugitive rebel leader Abdullah al-Janabi often preached.

Troops found small arms, artillery shells, heavy machine guns, and anti-tank mines inside the mosque, the U.S. military said.

U.S. forces also uncovered what may have been a mobile bomb-making factory as well as mortars, rocket-propelled grenades, launchers, and parts of surface-to-air weapons systems elsewhere in the mosque compound, the military added.

At a press conference in Baghdad, National Security Adviser Qassem Dawoud said troops found the suspected chemical lab in the southwestern district of Fallujah, where pockets of insurgents are still holding out following the Nov. 8 U.S.-Iraqi assault.

Good Policy:

If we find a mosque with a weapon in it, that mosque will be destroyed.

If we find a mosque with two weapons in it, two mosques will be destroyed.

If we find a mosque with N weapons in it, N mosques will be destroyed.

Too bad the knuckle-heads over there don't want elections.

What they deserve is a military dictatorship -- they are well on their way. We just need to find the right Iraqi to serve as thier Generalissimo.

Is it any surprise that they would store weapons in a "sacred" location where CNN continues to report "worldwide muslim retaliation if the U.S. fires upon the sacred site."

The days of sacred weapon storage sites protected by the MSM needs to end.

Is this a different mosque than the one that they found a ship mine? If so, than all mosques need to be searched; so should schools - that's where the "scholars" brainwash the children into hatred for America.

Just further proof that Death is what they really worship. Those items are simply religious tools for serving their god.

Apparently they found a list of people that were tortured and killed for collaberating with the good guys in this mosque's Imam's residence. Is he dead or captured yet?

As far as I know, no. He released a tape(or letter) saying he was still in charge in Fallujah a few days before we captured his home and mosque. I haven't seen anything saying we've found his corpse/person/DNA.
