Against the backdrop of continuing hate crimes against French Jewry, France's Broadcasting Authority had banned Hezbollah's Al-Manar viciously antisemitic and anti-Israel TV (see right and below) for violating French anti-incitement laws. Earlier this week, French Broadcasting Authority announced that it had reversed its ban thereby giving Al-Manar the license to continue broadcasting into France and elsewhere in Europe via French satellite television after the Beirut-based mouthpiece of the terrorist Hizbollah organization allegedly agreed not to broadcast any hate programming.
The Wiesenthal Center has protested to French Broadcasting Authority President Dominique Baudis (click here to read) and we urge you now to join us in demanding French President Jacques Chirac's personal intervention to reinstate the ban.
Last year, in meetings with Center officials at the Elysee Palace, (pictured left), President Chirac pledged that he would not "accept or stand by in the face of racism and antisemitism," and that he is "determined and resolute in this fight."
But enabling Al-Manar to continue to spew forth its pro-terrorist agenda will certainly fan the flames of antisemitism across Western Europe, encourage further violence against Jewish communities in France, jeopardize European Moslem families who fear indoctrination of their children into an Islamist 'culture of death', as well as make a mockery of the French government's support for the Middle East peace process.
For its part, Al-Manar, accuses the "Zionist entity" of unsuccessfully attempting to silence "the voice of Lebanese resistance" and provoke the French and other Europeans against Al-Manar."
The Center had first alerted French authorities to the insidious impact of Al-Manar Television on Moslem youth in France in February 2003. The spike in Moslem attacks on Jews in France last year paralleled Al-Manar's transmission of the horrific Syrian miniseries "Al-Shatat" ("The Diaspora"), based upon The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, that depicts rabbis ritually slaughtering children to mix their blood into matzah for Passover! The Center's initial protest galvanized broad public support leading the Broadcasting Authority to ban these broadcasts, which were in clear violation of French laws against spreading antisemitism.
From all Americans on this Thanks Giving Day: best wishes to Israel, Jewish people around the world, and brave French patriots. We have much to be thankful for this year, all of us.
If you can bring the headline into better compliance with the rules, I wouldn't mind! My capitalization is wrong in any case. Happy Thanks Giving, in any case.
Best wishes for these Thanksgiving festivities !
Chirac no more blood for oil. Does lucrative deals with the arab world decide the civil rights of French citizens? Oh wait you have real problems the guys from the ivory coast have BIG knives. Go surrender you surrender monkey.
Thank you, AF. And many thanks to all the good French people this year who have opposed members of their government on principle, patriotism, and love of country. It's always good to have your pro-western and pro-American commentary here on FR, too.
increasingly europe's moslems are going to pressure europe's leaders against israel.
america's leftist universities takes their cue from europe. i was amazed recently to meet a mexican uc phd candidate who was strongly anti-american and anti-israel. he read french and read the french newspapers on-line daily. he assured me that there are no christians or animists being persecuted in sudan. the only persecution that he admitted was women. the left appears to substitute radical feminism as a wedge against religions.
consequently, firm, continuous pressure on europe's leaders in necessary.
Al Jazeera probably assures the faithful of this daily, too. Of course, it's for Arab lebensraum, after all.
many mexican "intellecturals" that i've met are anti-israel and pro-arab.
Maybe they're reading La Voz de Aztlan, http://aztlan.net
According to Timmerman's latest book, this is the new camouflage for anti-semitism, and the limousine-liberals of europe are on their knees in thanks for being able to practice jew-hating again.
It's quite the clever dodge actually. It works like this:
Claim you're not anti-semitic here, but anti-zionist there. Criticize your jews here for having divided loyalty when they support Israel over there. Let your moslems here abuse your jews here; then refuse to prosecute your moslems here, because they're outraged by what goes on there.
Pretty schlick if your into putting the dog to sleep for trying to bite you every time you kick it.
i think timmerman's nailed it. that's how it works.
the euros, the french canadians and latins of this hemisphere, the asians, and the russians, many of them, resent american support of israel.
the europeans developed the enlightenment but never manifested it politically, with the exception of britain. the rest of the world never experienced the enlightenment or manifested it politically. in a related development the britains, dutch, and jews developed the free market economy which america is passing on to the world.
much of the world is envious of american success, but unwilling to engage in the hard work of promoting religious and economic freedoms.
P.S. I always appreciate your posts. I am sorry that sometimes it gets a little rough for you here on FR. There are many, many of us who are glad to hear from you and learn from your input. I make it a point to read your posts and that of Mad Ivan, Michael81dus, BritishBullDog, just to name of few. It gives me a better idea of what is going on in the world.
Aw, shucks, thanks, Asp, it's nothing.
With a very few exceptions, even the "rough posts" were sent in a gentlemanlike manner. It's a good thing we can talk freely and spill our guts to each other, because every time we do that we realize the other guy/gal is someone we can actually do serious business with. Sometimes I may be right, more often I'm probably wrong, but hey, we all live and learn !
I've never harbored bad feelings after even the roughest discussion here - while I did when I was just a lurker. Basically, the only thing that angers me is that we (and I mean the Western nations here) seem to like nothing more than our in-fighting and bickering and slef-righteousness one-upmanship, even though there are people out there who will be more than happy to take us down, one by one.
And I'm sure we'll get over it, eventually, and set our sights on more credible targets.
Many thanks for your wishes. I really look forward spending the rest of my days with the angel that cast a spell on me, and tell our future kids they have a much bigger family than they think, on both sides of the ocean.
I read the petition, and it's nothing but the pure truth. If everyone on this thread hasn't signed it yet, think about it, people.
It is a good occasion of showing that our commitment to free speech is, as it should be, a condemnation of hate speech.
If you'd like to be on or off this middle east/political ping list, please FR mail me.
