It is a semi automatic knock off of the SKS.
Get over it.
I'll wager you see a real difference between a pre ban "assault weapon" complete with: pistol grip, bayonet lug, flash supressor et al and the cosmetically sanitized post ban version of the same rifle without said peripherals.
Well do ya?
No...it's not. The Saiga is based on the AK design...not the SKS.
Listen carefully, maybe you will understand.
Saiga rifles are patterned after the AK action. SKS is an entirely (as in totally, completely, fully, you stareing to get the picture?) different design. To say Saiga SKS is like saying a Ford Jeep or a Chrysler Bronco. So, until you become a bit better versed in weapons, STF!
Semper Fi!
Is is NOT an SKS action. It is an AK-47 action. The magazine well is modified to accept 10 round Saiga manufactured magazines. Standard AK-47 mags have to be machined to fit into the Saiga rifle. Take a trip to the local gun shop and compare the Saiga, an SKS and an AK-47. You need to educate yourself on this one.
I own an SKS and I had one of these Saigas in my hands at a gunshop two weeks ago. They are two different guns. One is not a knock-off of the other. I can find similarities in a few features but they are different, separate and distinct
Saiga makes AK-47 variants, not sks's. Totally different firearm. The news got it wrong.
