A DAY IN THE LIFE OF PRESIDENT BUSH (PHOTOS): 11.24.04
yahoo.com, whitehouse.gov ^ | Wednesday November 24, 2004 | GretchenM

The Bush's welcomed King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia of Spain to a private visit at Prairie Chapel Ranch in Crawford, Texas, for the afternoon.

Mrs. Cheney participated in topping the national Christmas tree in DC.

President Bush ordered an internal review into whether the Defense Department should run covert paramilitary operations traditionally mounted by the CIA, administration officials said November 23, 2004. The presidential directive, signed by Bush last week, asks the CIA and the Departments of State, Defense, and Justice to report back to him in 90 days on "whether or not the paramilitary operations, currently under the control of the CIA, should be transferred to the Department of Defense."

Stephen Friedman, who heads the National Economic Council, is expected to leave the job before the end of the year.

Bush plans to travel to Canada next week.

More photos are available from the APEC summit.

Enjoy your evening on the beach at Sanity Island!

An EU official said: "These Christians could at least have the good grace to accept that they lost the argument."

With over a million and a half signatures on the petition in opposition to the EU, it doesn't sound like they've lost anytyhing.

***Look how much the King is laughing in this one! He's having fun too!***

What DOES our Dubya say to people to break them up? He sure has a gift for an ad lib.

Asking for prayers for our gubernatorial race (Washington).

The pubbie, Dino Rossi, won by 261 votes, triggering an automatic machine recount, which was just concluded.

Rossi's lead shrunk to a mere 42 votes as more votes were "found" all over the place.

The democrat candidate, the LOSER, Christine Gregoire, is calling it a tie. She and the dem party are weighing options but are likely to call for a selected-counties hand recount.

If they do, and if that changes the election (how many more votes can be "found"), then ALL counties have to be hand-recounted. That would put the declaration of a winner (if it happens even then) to December 23.

I do not like the way this is going (implications of vote fraud; in my heart I do not believe this race was ever THAT close on an actual true votes tally).

We haven't had a Republican governor since 1980.

Please pray! Rossi has won twice. There is a powerful dem machine out here and if they can steal this election through re-handling the votes yet another time and coming up with more votes, they will.

You take your turkey and inject it with Cajun marinade. You get a big pot & fill it with peanut oil. Put the pot on a burner outside & immerse the turkey in the hot oil. Takes about 45 min to an hour depending on how big the turkey is. You would think it would burn, but it doesn't.

It is surprisingly good & not greasy inside. We love it. Turkey fryer pots are all the rage around here. Some businesses (like bbq places) will fry or smoke them for you. We are having both kinds of turkey this year.

Going to sign off for now. My arms are hurting pretty badly. More later! Happiest of Thanks-givings to all, if I am not back online by then.

***My son is frying the turkey. Y'all come.***

Set an extra plate for me. My Thanksgiving won't be until Friday when my daughter and her family arrive from out of state.

What the heck, I'll spend tomorrow stuffing the bird and cleaning the house. But I promise that in the absence of all you good Dosers, I'll keep an eagle eye on FR for all of you. (SOMEBODY has to watch the store. LOL)

In the meantime, HAPPY THANKSGIVING ALL.

Gretchen, that's such good news that some Europeans are clinging to their faith. Especially after Shroeder in Germany said that the Christian faith is passe and he doesn't accept it.

And GEM, thank you for doing the Dose at such a busy time.

Traditionally we never stuff the turkey, just ourselves! I bake my dressing in the oven. We live near a lot of sweet potato farms, so they are plentiful here. Sweet potato souffle sounds yummy.

Here's a nice presentation posted by one of the Free Dominion people earlier today.

If you get a chance, take a look at it.

It's too bad that Rossi's lead wasn't substantial enough to put an end to this contest. Prayers for an ultimately happy outcome. Dec 23 sounds far off, but the month ahead should fly by. Hope you feel better soon.

I just love seeing W drive, and just being real.

We are all so blessed to have this man still "in the driver's seat" for our country, too.

Thanks for the pics, tonight!

Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours, and to all the Dosers!

Hey Tommix2!

I've actually been trying to get some school work done while cleaning house and prepping the kitchen for cooking tomorrow (I think only women can multi-task like this), so I'm a bit late looking at the Dose, but since I see you, Happy Thanksgiving! Sounds like you're going to have a great time.

I'm only cooking for my classmate and my son, but I want to cook enough so I don't have to cook again for a week. : )

Take care of yourself out there in Wyoming.

That's wonderful that your son is there with you. I bet you are a really good cook. Happy Thanksgiving to you too.
We usually have a lot of food left over at these potlucks and I will take enough turkey and dressing and everything to eat for a week too. I don't get to look at the Dose until late and I'm up early and glad I caught your message.
