kerry's Thanks (For) Giving-- Some Dems furious over Kerry's surrender while keeping the cash

Did other Democrats out there feel the surge of anger I felt when the e-mail from John Kerry came into our in-boxes the other day?

"Dear Matt," it began, before "personally" thanking me for having transformed American politics. But there was more: John Kerry was writing to say he'll fight on. "This is not a time for Democrats to retreat ... it is a time to stand firm." And JFK's New Firmness will debut when he introduces a bill on the first day Congress is in session next year to provide every child in America health insurance - a call for action that (in affecting 8 million people) would be nearly one-fifth as ambitious as Richard Nixon's plan for universal health coverage from the early 1970s!

This should be a real public policy breakthrough in a Senate that now boasts 44 Democrats thanks to John Kerry's coattails.

"Normally," Kerry confided, "a member of the Senate will first approach other senators and ask them to cosponsor a bill before it is introduced - instead, I am turning to you." By just signing the "Every Child Protected Pledge" at the link nearby and passing it on to everyone I know, why, we'd transform American politics once again!

"I understand the strength, commitment and passion that are at the core of (ITALICS)what we built together(END ITALICS)," Kerry concluded (my italics). "Let's roll up our sleeves and get back to work for our country."

It's hard to describe the boiling this e-mail set off in my brain as the words rushed to escape in a volcanic, primal scream. "YOU ARE NOT MY LEADER!" I finally burst out. "I AM NOT FOLLOWING YOU. IT WAS NEVER ABOUT YOU! EVER! IT WAS ABOUT BEATING BUSH! DO YOU REALLY NOT GET THAT?"

My wife, as usual, was more practical. "I WANT MY MONEY BACK!" she screamed.

And she has a point. Kerry apparently has $15 million or so left over that he didn't spend on activities that might have helped win the election, because he was saving it for more important things, like ... what? Like this? Who can say? All Jody knows is that spending it now to keep (ITALICS)"what we built"(END ITALICS) alive is unacceptable. Jody wants a pro-rata refund of her unspent campaign contributions. She knows it's doable, what with all the fancy computer tracking they do nowadays.

As she puts it, Kerry has no right to use her money to garner various political chits, or for self-aggrandizing purposes like this new "stand firm" campaign.

She did not give this money for that purpose. She and other Democrats gave their money to Kerry for a very specific purpose: to beat George Bush. Kerry failed in that. And in Jody's mind, individual Democrats can figure out perfectly well what they want to do with their political money at this point - it wasn't given to Kerry to do whatever he wanted to do with it (ITALICS)after(END ITALICS) Nov. 2.

Some Democrats may even sue over this; don't forget, we know lots of trial lawyers. You can hear furious Democratic donors roaring like Republicans usually do at tax-cut time: "IT'S OUR MONEY!"

Not that we have no sympathy for Senator Kerry. Imagine how it looks through his eyes. All those rallies packed with screaming supporters near the end! Fifty-seven million people casting ballots for ... me! All those people wanted me - me! - to be president. It has to be about me! Or at least partly about me, right?

Let's settle this quickly. Any Democrat who thinks John Kerry should be the candidate in 2008, please raise your hand. Did everyone hear the question? Yes, you in the back? Oh, I'm sorry, I thought you had your hand up. No one? OK. Can we please now move on with rebuilding a major American political party in ways that might produce a promising presidential candidate?

Wonder how many $800 haricuts were paid for by the Kerry campaign?

Gee Matt, you're almost starting to get how we feel about our hard-earned dollars winding up in the pork barrel every year.

My heart is breaking for you...almost. Of course you chose to throw your money down a rathole to fund a candidate who has been truth-averse for many years now, while mine is taken under threat of prison or death.

sigh

Yep. We tried to tell them Kerry wasn't the kind of a man who needed to be President of the United States. Just think what a gravy train he and Teresa would be on if we taxpayers had to foot the bill for all their mansions and excesses.

Is there such a thing as "The Least Wanted Person To Share A Beer With Hall of Fame"?

Yep! He squeezed at least 15 million which he can use to keep his mug in the public eye. Even the people who voted for him don't like him.

Like setting up a fund to promote Franco-American relations,or to engineer a device that surrenders remotely (wouldn't want to needlessly endanger someone that were to surrender in person, or create a study guide for the upcoming global test. Yeah, that's the ticket.

I can not possibly even begin to thank John Kerry for what he has done to the future of the DNC fund raising machine. Just think, each time a democrat reaches for their check book, to fund any political candidate for the next few years, in the back of their little minds they'll be thinking about John Kerry and that $15 million.

Dumb suckers. To Kerry, it was never about beating Bush. It was about burnishing the legend of John Kerry, American War Hero, and creating a continuing platform for his self-aggrandizement. You folks thought he would quietly fade away like Mondale or Dukakis? Are you kidding me?

I didn't even think of that! Kerry's the Gift That Keeps On Giving. He'd be even better than Terry McAwful as the head of DNC.

Got me to thinking what John Kerry could do with that $15 Million besides paying for his daughter's entourage and $800 haircuts.
- Could sponsor the "Kerry 2008 Windsurfing for Regular Guys Tournament" out on Nantucket Harbor.
- Could sponsor the Kerry 2008 Spelling Bee where the first word out of the box is Jhang-Gus Khan (with the accent agout over the "a" in Khan).
- Donate some dough to rehabilitate Bruce Springsteen's public image.
