I signed it, how can it be valid without real signatures? Anyone can just go in to a phone book and start typing.

It's currently at 223,337. Sean Hannity just told a caller that if this Marine isn't treated right there will be a serious backlash by the American people and Sean will lead the fight! God Bless the Marines!

The Fog of Battle is hard for any journalist to understand. Unless someone knows every incident this Marine was involved in, they are incapable and invalid judges of this Marine.

I think World War II has many example. In World War I, the most notable example is Sargent Alvin York -- a conscientous objector who did not believe in killing.

But one fateful day in France, he was force to make life/death decisions. In the balance hung the handful of men still alive and the other handful of men wounded but alive -- what was left of his squad.

As a corporal, he was the only person who could take charge of that squad that day.

He admitted to his dying day that he had to kill a German, and begged that German to surrender. This bothered literally to his dying day.

To any member of the press who had pre-judged this Marine -- you are guilty of being prejudiced the same as any member of the KKK, any member of the Black Panthers or any other racist/bigotted outfit.

This young man was willing to lay down his life for this country -- but he was not willing to give his life away or that of his buddies by acting in a stupid way in a wartime situation. He erred on the side of caution for other Marines and himself.

Better that than 10 of his buddies be dead and himself because of an error in judgement.

I signed #1
I started the petition for mainly awareness of the issue. It has done and continues to do its job. I have contact with the Marines family. The Marine is on his way home for Christmas leave, and will report back to duty after Christmas. He will be in country in 8 days. This is good news! Thank you one and all for signing the petition.

Thanks
Alan Swinney

The last line bothers me. "the rights of the terrorists can come second" implies that the marine violated someones rights. That is not true. The rights of the terrorists did not come second. This marine acted properly and within the law and did not violate any rights of the terrorists.
