Norfolk's Virginian-Pilot is dropping columnist Michelle Malkin because, according to the paper's editorial board, she's an "Asian Ann Coulter" whose columns are too "anti-liberal" and "seemingly mean-spirited."
Responding to a reader's complaint about the conservative scribe, the paper's public editor, Marvin Lake, announced on Monday that "she's outta here."
In quotes covered by Editor & Publisher, Lake explained that the Virginian-Pilot's editorial board had concluded that Malkin was "too stridently anti-liberal" and that readers objected to her "seemingly mean-spirited rantings and suggested that she be dropped." Malkin's meticulously researched columns have covered a variety of topics, including exposing Sen. Robert Byrd as a Ku Klux Klan sympathizer years after he formally left the organization and warning about how America's failed immigration system has left the country vulnerable to another terrorist attack.
Malkin has also authored two landmark books, one on immigration and the other on Japanese internment during World War II.
Still, editorial writer Don Luzzatto was unimpressed, telling Lake: "I was really put off by her penchant for name-calling and ad hominem attack. I think we can do much better.
Virginian-Pilot editorial board member Bronwyn Lance Chester went so far as to invoke Malkin's race.
"Shes an Asian Ann Coulter. ... She says outrageous things just to get TV appearances and book deals. Shes the worst of whats wrong with punditry today. She adds absolutely nothing to genuine political discourse.
In other words, Malkin's columns are too anti-Virginian-Pilot.
As long as the liberal national socialist demoncraps run the news papers in this country, reporters are going to have to tow the line that they are commanded. I live in domoncrap infested Birmingham, Alabama and we vote and elect republican, reading the rags that pose as newspapers you would think it was 1850 when the demoncrap liberals were about to plunge this state and the nation into a stupid civil war. The party of Jeff Davis and Lyndon Johnson tell the Black race how and when to vote. These slimeballs (naional socialist dems) are responsible for the murder-abortion of thirteen million black babies. Slavery in the U.S. is alive and stinking. The news paper industry shares a major portion of the blame.
She's attractive enough to be an Asian Ann Coulter!!!
Do what? Michelle Malkin is a strictly "Just the facts, ma'am" type of writer in my opinion. In fact I found her book to be boring for that reason. But what she does is "is" she tells it like it is and isn't too concerned if someone may be offended, and for that I love her.
So vote with your subscriptions! Surely no one's daily survival depends on the delivery of this paper.
Well, since you have that new Ph.D., I'm sure you won't mind backing up your assertions with FACTS!
We can't have "anti-liberal"/conservative Asians and blacks like Michelle Malkin and Condoleezza Rice, now can we?
Well, since you have that new Ph.D., I'm sure you won't mind backing up your assertions with FACTS!
I mean citations.
Uppity colored slave women are not permitted to wander off the democrat party plantation. Her massa at this newspaper says so.
He's wrong. They can't do much better.
There is probably a lot to what you are saying, at least allegorically. Do you write? You ought to flesh out that thesis and see what you come up with.
Read her book so we'll have common ground for discussion. I've discovered people who overcapitalize and end their comments with exclamation points aren't ready for calm debate.
After all, she is probably grateful her coulumns are not also in The Blade.
Whew! Now I feel better.
Wait til they find out that wholesale subscription cancellations trump 3 or 4 complaints by the losers and the perverts...
""seemingly mean-spirited.""
Hmmmm....another Harvard grad??
