Say NO To Arnold For Prez (NO FOREIGN-Born Presidents)
Petition Online ^ | 11/23/2004 | Jon Alvarez

Posted on 11/23/2004 11:32:59 AM PST by Jon Alvarez

Like him or not, as Americans we should all stand together to say NO to any change in the US Constitution that would allow foreign-born, naturalized citizens to run for and hold the highest office in this great land...Apparently a movement is underway to change the US Constitution. We must stand up to this and oppose it.

Gee, "Amending the Constitution is much too serious for guaranteeing the Right to Life or the codifying the Sanctity of Marriage" but we must now consider it so that someone, not born in America, can run for President?

Pardon me, but that is really such a simplistic and selfish desire at this time of really important time to be even considered worth discussion.

I believe that the liberals in the media circles are once again talking up their ideas then hoisting them on the American people.

Does anyone know how many other countries allow non local citizens to be their president? France, Germany, Russia, etc. or is it only the US?

No lame online petition necessary. I'll let the Constitution do my talking for me.

Thanks anyway.

If it were to pass it would be the "Arnold Amendment." Who else would benefit?

George Soros.

If that doesn't give you the heebie-jeebies, go see a doctor.

SCHWARZENEGGER IN, MEANS ALSO BILL CLINTON IN, BECAUSE RATS WOULD PUT PRESSURE ON THIS QUESTION (AND THEY WOULD HAVE A VOICE IN). THE REAL PROBLEM, HOWEVER, IS THAT SCHWARZENEGGER IS A RINO! IF ANYBODY WOULD LIKE TO SEE HIM AT THE W.H., I CAN SAY ONLY THAT HE COULD BE DISCREET A VICE PRESIDENT, NOT A PRESIDENT (NEVER).

Last I saw, the U.S. is the only country that people are demanding to permit foreigners to rule. Curiously enough, the U.S. is also the world's only remaining Superpower.

I don't think it's a coincidence.

While I do not share Arnold's views on abortion, I like hom on a personal level, and I can't help but wonder what it would be like with him in charge of the good ol' US of A. If nothing else, it will be a hell of a news cycle.

many said Arnie would never be Governor of Caaaleeefornya.

If it hadn't been for the recall, he wouldn't have been. If anyone else had run a campaign the way Ahhnold did, they'd have been laughed out of town. Ahhnold got the job almost exclusively on his celebrity status.

Soros, schmoros. He could spend his entire fortune and he'd still lose in the primaries. Maybe the left is wary of having him as a figurehead these days. Or they should be. Ok, who knows.

"Pardon me, but that is really such a simplistic and selfish desire at this time of really important time to be even considered worth discussion."

It's too "simplistic" to be worth discussion? Too "selfish"? I'm not sure what's wrong with something being simplistic. As for being "selfish", Arnold wants the same right as every native born U.S. citizen has.

From my perspective there needs to be a compelling public interest to justify denying a group like naturalized U.S. citizens a right that other citizens possess, such as the right to be eligible to be elected President.

When the US was founded there may have been such a compelling public interest. The US was worried about foreign powers supporting candidates that were loyal to them, and a relatively uninformed U.S. electorate putting them into power. This reasoning may have made sense then, but it doesn't make sense now when people have easy access to information, and competing candidates have access to paid media to point out such facts about their opponents.
