Maybe the crack made them forget to register?

Somehow those broward county residents keep popping up around the country. They were probably packing their crack pipes with psuedo crack(aka, sugar twin) resulting in the influx of those disenfranchised voters. Victory sure feels good and in keeping a communist traitor from the oval office. Retired Army MP/Infantry.

Has anyone analyzed whether the provisionals have broken down along the same numbers as the regular vote in the counties where they have been counted? If that is the case then Mr Bush's margin should hold at abot 51-49 statewide. As has been said before, even if kerry had gotten 100% of them he still would have fallen short. It is a mathematical impossibility for him to overtake GWB. The only remaining hurdle seems to be this recount that the nutjobs are demanding but there is no guarantee it will even happen.

As county elections workers stood watch over a hand truck bearing 10 boxes stuffed with invalidated ballots, an ensemble of lawyers, professors and others who were active in voter registration drives made it clear that the board's decision won't quell the lingering disquiet about the possibility that some legitimate votes won't be counted...

Probably the most obscene distortion of citizen participation in self government. It's mind-boggling that grownups and presumed professionals would continue to beat this dead horse.
Even more amazing is that we allow them to.

The Star Wars puerile attack all over again: If it's not perfect, it's not acceptable.
How can that societal petulance be so obvious to us and invisible to them?

Here's the antidote to that SM* attack; it's only 98% effective. Feel free not to participate.
Idiots!

It was pouring down rain on election day here. Terrible storm, I was afraid electricity might go off. We had many voters who were not registered in our precinct. They change the precinct boundaries from time to time according to population shifts. They also change the polling place. Some times it is at a school, some times at the Activity Center, some times at the local airport. (It is tiny). Things change. The newspapers usually carry info. like that and you can always call your local court house to find out where to vote.

The latest data shows B+ 12052 sK + 8042 33/88 reporting. These are mostly rural counties Bush took in the general @ 61% to 38%. These counties are breaking 59 % 40% so it's very close to the general

Now let's see. Most voter registration cards include your name, party affliation and precinct where you are supposed to vote. That's not hard, is it? I've got three words for the bumbling idoots who can't do it right:

"READING IS FUNDAMENTAL"

GREAT TAG LINE~

A friend asked me yesterday "Why are the Democrats so ANGRY with Republicans"

I told her in a battle of wits,
Liberals are unarmed.

The voter has to take some responsibility in the process and not just rely on the government to hold you by the hand every step of the way. My precinct has changed four times in the last six years, but I take a few minutes of time to find out just where I am supposed to vote before each election. Why is this too much to ask?

99% of our prov. ballots were not registered in that precinct. So they weren't counted. Some had moved here from another county. It only takes one phone call to find out where to go vote.

Our polling place has changed just about every time we vote. We simply find out ahead of time where we should go to vote. And when a presidential election is coming up, we find out way ahead of time if our registration card is valid. Mistakes can be made. I make sure I have my valid voter registration card and my photo ID with me when I go vote. I make sure I am at the right place. And I always vote RIGHT! Republican! LOL

"I find it inconceivable that over 5,000 voters in the county would wait an hour in the pouring rain to vote if they haven't registered," said Dr. Norm Robbins, a neurosciences professor at Case Western Reserve University who volunteered for the Greater Cleveland Voter Registration Coalition."

This guy is a moron, I personally know of a good little leftist lawyer in Cleveland who had recently moved but never notified the board of elections. She went to her new precinct and they told her flat out that she needed to go vote at her old one. When she refused they gave her a provisional ballot, which I'm sure has been disqualified and rightly so.

The area is very transient, lot's of those people move once a year. It's not surprising that they don't have the sense that god gave them to either notify the elections board or vote in the proper precinct.

Agreed.

If this guy has Ph.D in the “history of arts” for example, you may say well he is not the sharpest cookie around, but he has a Ph.D in neuroscience and he saying such stupid things. He must be a rabid Bush hater.

Actually, you should have stopped at your first sentence. I recently moved from Texas to Florida (2003). I registered to vote when I changed my driving license. About three weeks after I registered, I got my voter registration card that gives all the information about precinct, congressional district, location of voting, etc. In January, I moved to another location in the same town, I took the portion of the voter registration card that dealt with address change filled it out, detached it and send it to the Board of Elections. Within a week I had my new voter registration card with all the new info on it. I decided to take advantage of the "early voting" process in Florida, so I went online to the Florida State site, and found where county residents had to go to "early vote". I then called the Board of Elections in my county to double check on the voting sites. They confirmed the sites and voting times. I then went ahead and voted, standing in line for about twenty minutes, handing my voter registration card and photo driver's license to the poll workers there. I signed the necessary paperwork, and voted on the touch screen machine. It was so simple my grandkids could do it with their eyes closed. My point is, that voting is both a right and privilege, therefore it is incumbent on the voter to engage their brain and make certain where and when they are so supposed to go, long before they cast their ballot!!! When I see huge numbers of ballots discarded for administrative reasons, it usually indicates more so, that people are idiots, rather than that fraud has taken place. IMHO, folks that don't care enough about voting to find out where they should be voting, should not be voting at all!!!

"Anyway, they tossed my registration without telling me....so I had to re-register to vote."

Yes. What you did is called being grown up and proactive and taking responsibility.

You did it RIGHT. We voted early here, too. I had to since I worked on election day at a precinct. When Kerry claims that he lost the election due to the bin Laden video... so many people had already voted early here. BEFORE that video! He is such a sore loser whiner! When we opened the book on election day, so many names were already marked as having voted. We mark through the names with highlighter when they vote. Some pages the names were already full of markings, names of people having already voted.

We had one angry man try to force us to let him vote. He was NOT registered. He was angry. He was short. I coulda taken him. He was mean and hateful to his wife. I believe he is abusive, judging from her injuries. She was on crutches. He was yelling at her because she left the cell phone in the truck. He told us "I just got off work and You are messing with a short tempered man!" My 20 year old body builder son was by my side, so that was good. There were three other men working with us, too. So we weren't scared or intimidated. The man was NOT registered to vote in that precinct. We offered to call to find out where he should vote and he wouldn't wait for us to do that. He left to go to another precinct. We heard later that he stormed in there already angry. He didn't get to vote there either. He kept telling them "Just give me a damn piece of paper and let me vote!" We don't know if he was drunk or not. But he sure was angry. As far as we know he didn't get to vote. He should make sure he is registered before the next election. LOL
