Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- Leading abortion advocacy groups and the Democratic Party are preparing their strategies on how to lobby members of the U.S, Senate and rally their troops together to stop President Bush from nominating pro-life judges to the Supreme Court.
NARAL is rallying its members together in anticipation of a forthcoming Supreme Court appointment that it notes could come soon given the tenuous health of Chief Justice William Rehnquist.
The pro-abortion group sent an email to its members telling them they expect pro-life advocates to "put everything they have into securing an anti-choice majority on the Court, which is within their grasp."
"Right now, Roe v. Wade is only supported by a razor-thin majority -- and we expect three or even four Justices to retire while Bush is in office," NARAL says.
While NARAL fully expects Bush to pick judicial candidates who are outwardly pro-life, their biggest concern is a "stealth candidate" who is pro-life but shows little track record on abortion, making an attack more difficult.
"President Bush may nominate a judge with a clear anti-choice record," NARAL revealed. "But his team knows that the American majority is pro-choice, and will fight an extreme nominee. So it's quite possible he will nominate a stealth candidate -- one without a clear record on privacy and choice, but who opposes choice nonetheless, making it even more difficult to fight."
NARAL told its members in the email it expects to lobby, "educate" the public, and develop an intense advertising plan to stop judicial nominees.
Meanwhile, in an email to its members, the Democratic National Committee says it's preparing to fight against anywhere from one to three potential Supreme Court nominees.
The party, which bashed Bush on his pro-life judicial picks during the election and secured the aid of former NARAL president Kate Michelman in that effort, says that it expects the president to pick judges who are "extreme" on the issue of abortion.
"The Democratic Party will not stand by and let President Bush use the Supreme Court to placate the most extreme members of his party," the DNC wrote. "We will fight for a nominee who will protect the rights and values we hold dear, and you will be a crucial part of that fight."
The party said members can expect further emails with specific instructions on how to help derail Bush's judicial nominees.
Huh? I strongly doubt that. Does anyone have the real figures?
Certainly didn't come out that way on November 2.
I hope all the pro-life groups are gearing up with their own "strategy."

It doesn't come any sicker.
S'truth, mate.
And they'll get loads of help from their buddy, Arlen Specter.
So bush can't appease his extreme right, but must appease Demonrat extreme left... hmmm. Sounds like someone got their loyalty standards confused... So logically a Demonrat president should appease the extreme right if the logic follows.... Well, in the demonrat world everything is logical if they get what they want...
"Can you prove that a majority of the people in this country are anti-abortion."
I think the proof is that George W. Bush (PRO-LIFE) won the Presidential election.
John Kerry (PRO-ABORTION) lost.
Oh yeah...so long, troll!
What choice do babies have when they are ripped to pieces?
They have rights, too!
I'd be satisfied with judges that actually read and follow the constitution rather than all the silly made
up stuff that's become commonplace. The abortion issue with actually take care of itself as its main
proponents continue to kill their own young. ( Eventually the children of the prolife parents will
become the necessary majority, it's the inevitable result of this unnatural selection )
I suspect that the vast majority of Americans would not consider themselves to be either pro-choice or pro-life. My guess is that most Americans don't want abortion outlawed completely, but they still consider it immoral and would welcome greater restrictions on it's availability.
It's sad that the Leftists think nothing of murdering an innocent so they don't have to take responsibility for their own actions.
May God have mercy on their souls.
"So bush can't appease his extreme right, but must appease Demonrat extreme left... hmmm."
Good point-- (though I don't think people who want to save babies from the "killing fields" of abortion are "extreme" anything).
Can you imagine Kerry or Hillary reaching out in a show of unity to pro-lifers?
"with" should be "will"
