Rochester (AP) Police say a woman went to a Beaver County police station and admitted fatally shooting her husband after he threatened to kill their pets.
Elsie Kost was charged yesterday with homicide in the death of her husband Edward. Police say Edward Kost was killed November 16th but authorities didn't find out about the shooting until Elsie Kost confessed to shooting him and putting his body in cistern on their property.
Elsie Kost had told others her husband was away at a hunting camp. But New Sewickley police say she told her daughter about the shooting yesterday and they decided to go to police.
Kost told authorities she had an argument with her husband and that he pushed and shoved her. Police say Edward Kost had threatened to shoot some of the family pets.
Authorities recovered Edward Kost's body yesterday.
An autopsy was planned for sometime today

On the local news this morning (KDKA-AM) it came out that she told the police (when she turned herself in) that she had been abused for 39 years. She just snapped. The local police officer giving the statement (he was from the arresting PD) said something to the affect that 'threats had escalated.' Pushing and hitting of the woman prior to the shooting. No boyfriend or any accomplice. My guess would be 'battered woman syndrone. This is not about the value of the lives of the pets being paramount to the life of the victim. There is (apparently) is much, much more to this tragedy. The woman just crossed the point of no return (in her situation).

My original post on this thread was to someone who was complaining about anyone who could sympathize with someone who would defend their pets. That same poster attempted to say that 'most of FR' are not animal rights people after only having been here just over a month. And then he ripped out the tried and tru "dominion over animals" bible argument. It wasn't your fight in the first place nor were you called into it by that poster.

LOL. No it was the name of the coffee shop I was sitting in when I registered on FR. It was late at night and I was too fried to think of a screen name. I was playing with a variation on bella and decided to name myself after the shop which sold me the drug I need to get through the day: coffee.
Did you even consider the husband of 30 years snapped and spoke a word like "if that stupid little mutt doesn't shut up I am gonna kill it!" and the woman was then justified in killing him. Wow! by that reasoning you can pretty much kill whoever you want for almost any reason.
For some reason I have a hard time believing if the situation was the other way around you still would be making excuses for the murderer.
For all you know the woman is insane! I am sure the woman who cut her kids arms off has a good excuse, hell there's even excuse makers for the woman who drowned her five kids. Joseph Farah even thinks its ok for the woman in Houston to run over her cheating husband. When John Wayne Bobbitt had his penis cut off most woman relished the thought. Thats what you sound like to me and, yes it is a Jezebel woman so deal with it.
