Know what? I don't blame her either. Love me, love my dog, my cat, my fish... and so on. Besides that, a hunter? No regard for life in general. The next threat would have been against her or a human member of the family!........ To much tough talk on this thread.Just talk...

That's right. Now you're getting it. Most everyone here who is professing the woman was ok to kill the guy are not really serious .... I hope! They are just, in most cases, letting everyone know how much they adore their animals. I'm pretty sure, if the story is true, they don't really think the woman had a right to do what she did. My point in posting the article was to try to point out that MAKING THREATS of this nature, in itself, is not a smart thing to do. It serves no good purpose. The guy didn't deserve to die, but he's dead. So again, if the story is basically true as the woman said, and that is a big "if", neither of the participants has gained from the event.

So threats should be avoided......... simple.

Stupid, evil threats, the woman will spend 25 years in jail perhaps, and the man is dead. Best to avoid the stupid threats. That was the intention of the original posting. Be well.

And do you eat meat? If you do, someone had to do the killing for you.

Eat a chicken, go to jail.

DEATH to backyard BBQ'ers.

Note - there is a big difference between pets and "animals". I am surprised that some are confusing the two!

Excellent point.

I live in the area of this incident and I'm going to make an effort to follow it as well as possible. If anyone would like to be kept abreast, please let me know. I am curious about the history of this family. They live in a place about 20 miles northwest of Pittsburgh where the people have been hit hard by the steel mill and other industry shutdowns. There are a lot of very down and unhappy people there. This is a sad story about some very sad events. I will try to see what really happened.

The 5:00 p.m. news here ought to have a segment on this. I will post on that news story to anyone who wishes to see it.

But we'll never know for sure, will we.

No we won't, I guess. The one thing we DO know, is that these kinds of menacing threats (if true) are seldom wise and beneficial to anyone!

On my part, yes. My personal experience is that controlling types will invariably threaten those things you hold dear as a means of controlling you. During my marriage it wasn't just my pets were threatened.

Looking back, I struggle with my mindset that kept me locked in that relationship and kept me from making rational judgments.

Well now that is over, so try to look at every day from now on as a blessing to you. They are blessings to you.

We also know there are many freepers who the illegal taking of human life - the masterpiece of creation - is just ducky as long as they sympathize with the motive. Its surreal.

Been there, done that, stop trying to second-guess yourself. It will only drive you crazy. I know from first-hand experience.

You did what you had to do at the time. God bless you and may He help you on the path to find healing.

To quote Charles Barkley, "Animals are good for two things: eating and testing."

None of us at the moment know what the actual facts are. That's why I put "if true" in my comment.

I saw two stories on two different tv stations in the past hour on the killing. Believe me it's not a "Jezebel" story. The reports had a still picture of the 60 year old woman, she had a tired, haggard, troubled, and concerned and decent face. (I don't know how to post an image/picture, or I would do so on the thread.) She was just what I expected really. They interviewed two of the husband's pals who had come to the house to see him to verify a hunting outing in the near future. The two guys seemed very decent, relatively articulate, not what I really had expected, and they seemed pretty properly broken up about the killing.

There was no report on the news segments of any previous problems at the home (it was a 30 year marriage), and no mention of any problems by the two husband's hunting companions. So, to me it's just a very sad thing.

The woman did have a lot of pain on her face, she did not look dull-witted, but she looked very tired. Anyhow, I feel badly for both of them. If you wish to be kept up to date, I'd be glad to do such.

By the way, if you think THIS is a bad story, about an hour ago I heard of a mother down south who cut off the arms of her own daughter! The daughter later died. How sick!!! Sometimes I think I should just stay away from the media and just go out in the woods.

Every once in a while 'The Round Mound of Rebound' says something really stupid. That quote is one of those times.

Usually the good Charles is not so ignorant! Oh well.

Ok Bella, take a minute and step down from your self-erected pedestal. You talk about the fact that I have been on Free Republic for a month. Are you condescendingly insinuating that I am therefore less entitled to share my thoughts than you? Perhaps I am just not allowed to disagree when you people say that a murder victim got what he deserved for threatening to harm an animal. You obviously value the lives of animals more than people, but your right, that doesn’t sound anything like a PETA espoused belief. (Sarcasm) If you don’t want to be associated with extremists, then don't act the part.
Secondly, you questioned whether or not I have been banned before. Do you have anything that would lead you to come to that conclusion, or is that merely what you would like to see done to somebody who doesn’t agree with you? Wow, you must have quite a stack of books aside the fireplace waiting for the next frosty night.
Lastly, I am an Eagle Scout, I ride horses, I have worked a farm, and yes, I too have pets. You’re not the only one who likes animals here; I just don't share your extremist view that people who threaten to harm them should be summarily murdered. The Bible gave man dominion over all the fish in the sea, the fowl of the air, and all the creatures of the earth. Last time I read the scripture, I didn't read anything about him giving PETA, ELF, and the environmental-weenies the right to protect those creatures through murder and destruction.

And you don't think that with dominion comes responsibility? G-d's earth and all G-d's creatures are throw away?

Because you are a newbie, you might not realize that the majority of FR doesn't live up to the stereotype of conservatives portrayed by liberals. If you want a forum that does, I suggest you try LF.

"Newbie" huh? Quite a scathing label. Either way, I would rather have it than environmental-weenie. Maybe your a good conservative on most issues, but don't convince yourself that most people on FR would agree with you on this issue. Some of the people on this thread are rationalizing a murder because of their love for animals. Newsflash, that isn't conservative! I love animals.... they're delicious

You forgot the most important lesson of all. If you feel like killing someone because you are a jezebel woman, just make sure you cry abuse, he hated my pets, he was a hunter and you will get someone like beyond the sea to make sure you go free to kill again.

I couldn't pass your comments up. Jezebel woman? Kill again? For pity's sake...she is 60 years old and quite possible spent 30 to 40 of those years being abused. Threatening the defenseless (a child, an invalid, and yes a pet) is a power trip. It is about throwing fear (ie., controlling) another person. According to local media, this 60 year old Jezebel has no prior convictions or arrests. Hardly the portrait of menace to society. She probably (just my opinion) snapped. The FReepers defending her are looking at the bigger picture.

I saw this woman on the news. She looks her age (60); very tired looking. She didn't look like (under better circumstances) she was the type who did hair/make up. So I strongly doubt any boyfriend is in the picture.

I think so too. My religion provides laws that are to be followed and a code of ethics regarding animals. At least I don't presume that dominion equates 'I can do whatever I please'.

Newsflash, that isn't conservative!

Do you extend that to all areas or is nanny state ok as long as it is 'for the children'?

but don't convince yourself that most people on FR would agree with you on this issue.

Been here a month and you can speak for most of FR? Interesting. I hope you aren't a re-tread. The mods don't take well to those.
