I thought he was going to retire sooner than that. IIRC, he made comments to that effect prior to the election. Something like spring of '05...

Think of what a horses ass Dan can make of himself in two whole years.

Oh wait, he's already done that in spades.

He should have been fired months ago not allowed to retire in a few years.

Dan Rather...Dan Rather...nope, the name is not ringing a bell. Was he an envoy to the UN or something equally unimportant for us at some point? :: evil grin ::

If Thornburgh doesn't recommend that Rather be fired now, I'll be astonished.

He's finished. A laughingstock to everyone except his suckups and CBS. The great part about his over-the-top duplicity and fraud is that he took the network with him. RIP, CBS.

There is no turning back for Rather - - no possibility for redemption. He will always be, first and foremost, the crooked newsman who tried to corrupt a Presidential election by using forged documents to support a one-sided hit-piece interview with a Kerry fundraiser just weeks before the election. THAT will be Rather's well-deserved epitath. I don't care when the scumbag retires. In fact, the longer he hangs around the more CBS's reputation will suffer. Hang in there, Dan.

Darn, that's too early. We need him around for longer as a good whipping boy. Think of all the damage he could do.

2006? He's already a drooler. By 2006 he will no longer be able to sit up and take nourishment without assistance.

We have satellite tv, and I never bothered to even try to find the alphabet networks. FOX, and CSPAN are the only news and politcally oriented stations I watch. BTW, who is Dan Rather? /sarcasm

Probably after the 2006 mid-term elections.

Rather has been retired! The blogs retired him this last year. He can stay on as long as he wants. We can watch him and the rest of the "old media" drift into oblivion.

It's possible he may now want to hang around longer in order to attempt to redeem himself, or maybe he fantasizes that "time heals all wounds" even in his case and he wants to go out in a better light. Not gonna happen. Deep down inside, he knows what his legacy will be but he will never accept it. Please see post #12.

Retirement should NOT be the mechanism to move this bastard.

FIRE HIM....

Or, CBS News may be worthless after another 2 years.

The stockholders should REVOLT.
