Wow....

Some people have lost their minds. I have not heard of a hunter going postal before.

Ya know, I'm not at all tempted to make flippant comments about such an event. There are five people dead here, shot to death, and I don't find that amusing. I don't know who was shot, the article is light on details. It mentions "property owners", so I might guess that the perp who was asked to leave came back and killed the owners, but how many were there? Who were the people who were killed and injured?

I am sure there was an interesting exchange of words before the shooting started.

I don't know what the hell it being a blue state has to do with anything. Let's be real--a DUer could just as legitimately say a HUNTER did this. That no more says anything about all hunters than it does about blue staters. Whatever happened for blaming the individual for his/her own stupid actions and not "society"?

How tragic! Prayers go out for the complete recovery of those who were wounded. May God comfort the families of those who were murdered.

Five murdered, three wounded in shootings

Updated: 11/21/2004 06:10:03 PM

EXELAND, Wis. - Five people are dead and three injured in a shooting incident that apparently began over a hunting dispute in western Wisconsin.

The confrontation began around noon in a rural area southwestern Sawyer County. Authorities said a hunting party returning to their deer shack reported seeing a hunter unknown to them occupying their tree stand. That led to a shooting.

One of the shooting victims used a walkie talkie to radio back to the deer shack for help. When the victim's hunting partners came to the scene, they were also shot.

Sawyer County was in a virtual lockdown as authorities searched for the gunman. One suspect was eventually taken into custody around 5:15 p.m.

The suspect's name has not been released.

Officials at Lakeview Medical Center in Rice Lake said they have treated at least three gunshot victims. They said one of the victims was transported to a hospital in Marshfield, WI. Another victim is in critical condition and is undergoing surgery. The third victim is in fair condition in the intensive care unit.

This isn't a "hunting accident".

This is deliberate and premeditated murder.

Errrrmmmmm.... an "automatic" rifle? Just how sure are we of that, Mr. Reporter? Is it semi or full? And if full, was it legal or not?

Hmmm... I wonder if some PETA perv. decided to go "postal" by hunting the hunters to "save the animals". What a sad tragedy. I am surprised that the perp lived long enough to shoot more than just the first hunter. How did he get off a second shot if he was up a tree? Why didn't his friends kill the murderin' bas**rd?

The 2nd amendment was not intended to protect hunters.

My family owns land in the area as well and my good buddy has an 80 we have had to chase
trespassers off of more than once during gun season

About 20 yrs ago my brother was held up by four guys while he was dressing out a good sized buck they took it and his rifle...and got away..

We were glad he wasn't killed.

Back in 75 some a hole put four shots over my head while I was following some sign..on county land... just because some one across a field decided I had scared 'his' deer away by walking around while he was in a tree stand 500 yds away..

There are some real crazy sobs out there during gun season...and add alcohol and they don't improve much..

Truthfully the guy that did this was well beyond nuts..its too bad that someone did not shoot him before he was able to kill so many..

There are a lot of hurting family members out there tonight...and the liberal press is loving it just as they do when our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan give them something they can use to attack our freedoms..

This is a real tragedy...that had nothing to do with guns and everything to do with one mans evil heart..
