Fort Benning annual protest losing momentum.
Friends of WHINSEC, SOA Watch | 21 November 2994 | Self

Posted on 11/21/2004 2:22:58 PM PST by Monterrosa-24

The pilgrimage of the human zoo came to the front gates of Fort Benning this weekend just as it does every November. Thousands protest against the training of Latin American officers and NCOs at Fort Benning's Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation.

This year we had a God Bless Fort Benning Day counter demonstration that virtually matched the size of the protest. We had Lee Greenwood headline the bill. Columbus Georgia's Jack and Miriam Tidwell were the chief organizers of the effort.

We also have a Friends of WHINSEC group which counter punches the propaganda of the Left.

Today as Monterrosa24 walked among the Leftist it seemed that those "activists" (who claim that the WHINSEC is the "School of the Assasins") are getting less folks to Benning's gate each year. As always the Che Guevara images were popular as were the anti-Bush cartoons. I was handing out flyers to them with the words "opposition view". We also had "Protest the Protest" posters.

Did anybody see these hippies, Maryknolls, Jesuits, pacifists, and vegens on the national news?

School fo Americas was meant to help Latin American countries build up and improve their military. The anti-Communist part was just there and it is a good thing.

No...but I read in the Stars and Gripes about this nun who did a 9 month stint for tresspeassing or some such at the school. The article was about the low security prison she was in and it did not mention exactly what the charges against her were. It is nice to know that the people who are responsible for informing our troops overseas will toe the anti-military line every step of the way. Believe me...if writing them letters made any difference I would have writer's cramp.

Someone tell these stupid Leftists that the war in Latin America is long over and that their side lost big time.

Our local paper - which I won't read, but my wife will - has what seems to be an annual feature on the area's geriatric nuns who religiously (!) travel to the Ft. Benning protest on somebody's dime. Upon asking Mrs. Skid, this year was apparently no exception. I never remember which order these elderly sisters belong to, so I simply refer to it as the "Order of St. Marx." Most retired nuns are really great people to be around, but these have Jesus Christ so confused with Che Guevara that they are objects of revulsion to me.

Yes, to get your ticket punched as a true Lefty activist one needs to get themselves arrested at Fort Benning. The post always uses civilian police to make the arrests of those who march onto Fort Benning. First time offenders are booked and released. The second time offenders are held and given trial dates. These "nuns" are hardcore Leftists usually from the Maryknoll Order but other sisterhoods are represented. The college-age crowd usually accepts my handouts but those old nuns are mean and refuse to accept anything from a military-looking guy.

One of my flyers asks the question, "Who helps the poor and the oppressed...the U.S. Army or "Peace Activists"?". Then there are a series of questions such as "Who liberated Buchenwald Concentration Camp? Who helped the Honduran victims of Hurricane Mitch? Who stops violent Marxist takeovers that will make the poor even poorer?" etc. etc. The most maddening answer for them is "...peace activists liberated no concentration camps."

I notice every August when I go to England that the people protesting the dropping of the atom bomb (do people still say "atom bomb"?) on the Japanese are dwindling and all look about 90 years old.

I think eventually every protest dies out because the people who can't move on eventually die off.

Maryknolls, probably. Their saints are Marx, Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Castro, Guevara, and Hillary Clinton.

Some of the young protestors are hardcore but others are just along for the ride or are getting academic credit for attending the protest.

You are a maverick and I mean that as a compliment. You have about the most unusual "about page" I've seen.

I wonder if these "nuns" put as much energy into protesting abortion as they put into protesting America. My guess is no.

Coming home this evening, I heard on the radio that the usual suspects..namely Martin Sheen, Susan Sarandon and Timmy Robbins were there beating the dead horse....

I ran down a copy of the 11/20/04 Dubuque Telegraph Herald to see what order the two Hennessey sisters are (they are OSF), and discovered that a new OSF novice who was once an Army nurse joined 44 other protestors from the area for a bus ride to Fort Benning. Apparently some of the OSF have been "turned" here in one of Iowa's truly socialist Democrat strongholds; I didn't talk to the two nuns I saw at the GWB rally here on Oct. 26, but something tells me that they probably weren't on the bus this weekend. It is truly nauseating to think that this bunch can get a whole busload of people who lack only the red rubber noses and wildly oversized shoes to complete their equipment.

On the other hand, it is probably more exciting to go to Columbus, GA in mid-November than it is to hear some labor leftist give a hectoring talk at the library about the good old days of Henry Wallace and/or the late, unlamented Dubuque Leader.

I won't bother to post excerpts here, but rest assured that the TH gave the local peace, love and Tom Harkin set another kiss squarely on the old sphincter, complete with references to UN commissions and plenty of subjective garp.

Susan Sarandon, Martin Sheen protest Fort Benning area military school

The communists, democrats and other left-wing peace activists including many priests and sisters protest the School of the Americas every year.  My diocesan newspaper usually has some news items about the school during the year.  I understand it was started to help train the Military in Central and South America to combat the Marxists in their countries.  Why is the radical left in the Catholic Church against this military training school? What really is the main purpose of the school and is the school doing anything good and constructive?

The priest and nun protesters should be about ready for nursing homes. Brace yourself for hunger strikes and catchy slogans on the back of wheelchairs.

... One year ago, I wrote a piece exposing radical Islam within Florida Atlantic University (FAU). My goal was twofold: [1] to bring awareness concerning a growing problem within FAU [2] to push the university to take action so that this problem ceases to exist. Unfortunately, only the first part of my goal was accomplished, as FAU is continuing to allow radicals on its campus, the latest being this Saturday'S (Jan.22, 2005) return engagement of potential co-conspirator to the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Center, Siraj Wahhaj.

The Enemy Thrives at FAU

In recent times, a fairly large list of Islamist radicals and/or those that sympathize with the Islamist cause have passed through the university. This list includes professors that the university had itself hired to teach its students (two of which still teach there). Professors such as:

1. Mustafa Abu Sway, who was discovered to have had numerous ties to the terrorist organization HAMAS

2. Khalid Hamza, who had used a Texas A & M internet forum to defend Palestinian Islamic Jihad leader Sami Al-Arian

3. Bassem Alhalabi, who was found guilty of exporting a $13,000 thermal imaging device to Syria.

4. Imadeldin Imad Mahgoub, who was featured on a panel discussion with HAMAS fundraiser Raed Awad

At least one FAU student, Syed Khawer Ahmad, was found to have played a role in the world of radical Islam. While Ahmad was attending classes at FAU, he was the webmaster of the homepage for the Islamic Society, the Palestinian group that spawned HAMAS.

The final bunch are those that were invited by the FAU [Florida Atlantic University] Muslim Student Organization (MSO) to speak on campus. This is the same MSO that created two Islamic centers in Boca Raton, one of which houses two religious leaders that have been accused of having direct ties to terrorist organizations.

The guest lecturers included:

1. Rafil Dhafir, the past Vice Chairman of the Islamic Assembly of North America (IANA), who was convicted of raising money for terrorist organizations through an Iraqi children’s charity called Help the Needy

2. Al-Haaj Ghazi Khankan, the Executive Director of the New York chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), who is quoted as having pledged his support for the HAMAS and Hezbollah terrorist groups

3. Kathy Kelly, the co-founder of Voices in the Wilderness, who served time in a federal prison for trespassing onto the Ft. Benning military base in Georgia

4. William Baker, who has been described by many as a “neo-Nazi” for his hate-filled writings and his involvement in a white-supremacist organization

Interesting info! The first time I ever heard charges of "abuse" at Guantanamo were at the Fort Benning protest. There has always been a connection between Arabic terrorism and the FMLN in El Salvador. One of the FMLN comandantes was Shafik Handel who was of ME heritage.

This military schools fosters strong international bonds between our military communities. If we don't reach out to them, they will reach out to Cuba or China or Venezuela for military guidance and assistance.

Catholic protestors are directed by the great big Massacusett's senator and his nephews or cousins. His spokesman is the Congressman from GA 5th District, John the plantation forman Lewis.

International military comradarie is good for deep bonding. My granddad graduated West Point 1914. His classmate was Vicente Lim from Manila Philippines. Their careers and friendships were the bridges that made history in the last century. Nothing is perfect yet they worked to make a better world which we enjoy.

Unfortunately, I saw and smelled the protesters in person.
It is not pleasant. No.

But good people are doing good things.
