Secret Service agents are supposed to protect the President and protect in a manner which will not bring embarrassment to the President. That President Bush had to intervene on behalf of the Secret Service agent might say to someone higher up within the ranks of the Secret Service that the agent gave the appearance of not doing his job.

Now I'm wondering if the agent will be reprimanded or blamed in any way by his Secret Service supervisors for any part in the disagreement with the Chilean security. It is my hope that he isn't, but those guys in the Secret Service have very rigid rules and regs to follow.

I am very proud that we reelected an honorable and real man to lead our country. God Bless President Bush.

This was the senior agent. He did nothing wrong. Bush didn't want it to get worse and He knew no one would shove him if he stepped into it.

THAT is a leader men will follow.

If that were the case, then I don't think that W would have rescued him. I think that the Chilean security forces ganged up on him and that is why W stepped in.

It says a lot when W notices that "One of his people" is getting harrassed and takes care of it. 95% of most Presidents wouldn't have intervened. They would have let the Chile security forces do what they may.

To me if says that Bush doesn't trust the Chilean government to protect him, and he is going to "protect his guys" so that they can protect him. I don't trust them either.

I doubt the Agent will be punished. The Pres. intervened and I bet would again.

Wonder no more. Based on what I have seen from President Bush, the agent will not be focused on - he's a great administrator (remember he has an MBA from Yale), the Chileans are definitely in the wrong on this. If it were Clinton, our agent would have been indicted.

Well, it's the "in a manner which will not bring embarrassment to the President" part which got the agent hung up, apparently, after the Chilean security people closed ranks in front of him. If his superior chooses to chastise him, I would submit that the superior is being petty, given the constraints the agent is required to follow.

This is his lead agent. I have been paying close attention to him since last Thanksgiving.

He is always right with him. There is a lot of intensity in his eyes when he's surveying a crowd.
