[history]
President Bush stepped into the middle of a confrontation and pulled his lead Secret Service agent away from Chilean security officials who barred his bodyguards from entering an elegant dinner for 21 world leaders Saturday night.
Several Chilean and American agents got into a pushing and shoving match outside the cultural center where the dinner was held. Bush noticed the fracas after posing for pictures on a red carpet with the summit host, Chilean President Ricardo Lagos and his wife and first lady Laura Bush.

For all of the DU Trolls - go over and tell them how awesome you think Bush is for what he did and you may change your politics because of it.
I just did.... And you were busted. Likewise anyone who followed your advice.

Looks like GW could still play Rugby.
I imagine the Secret Agents qualified to protect the President said "Thank You, Lord!" when moi Kerri was defeated.

Besides being a great Potus for the Secret Service, this automatic act by President Bush made his relations with the street cops in America even stronger.
Moi Kerri would have had the ss fired.

" saw that on TV! Bush is a real man, going TOWARD the melee instead of away from it."
A real man who cares about those who served with him. Also, as a former Rugby player, this was old time fun.

GWB is the first president I have loved. And I am pretty old. I liked Reagan, I really really liked his father but I love this President. We are so blessed by him. Funny I said the exact same thing to others at work (before he was re-elected) and they said they felt the same way. A lot of people really love GW.

Thanks for the link. I came late to the party and missed it all last night. Fox isn't being all that informative, so glad to read the WashTimes article.

Tom Clancy could have wrote about this President, but he didn't,Heh heh. I enjoy Clancy's books. I think Clancy may fancy himself as Jack Ryan to a degree. If he did write about him it would be a biography of sorts. Although a new "Agent W" action/techno-thriller might be in order :-)

True, but if, God forbid, anything had happened to GW in that hall last night...and his secret service hadn't been allowed inside, imagine Chile's humiliation and shame. Their security men need to think 'outside the box'.
To: spokeshave
Absolutely right - it was the picture of the Chilean security guy distracted by the ruckus, with his gun exposed and seemingly unprotected, with the President just a few feet away, that really concerned me as it didn't have to be a planned assassination plot to be a potentially dangerous situation.
Thank God President Bush is a take charge guy and diffused a potentially very serious situation.
Way to go, Dubya. We luv ya.
And I still remember the Oswald shooting - that entire 4 days in November '63 were surreal - no one moved from in front of the TV for 4 days. And reliving that moment just makes me realize it can happen again - lots of looneys, terrorists and terrorist sympathizers out there that hate this President, and it only takes one slip up to spell disaster. This incident needs to be investigated to see what went wrong and how to prevent anything like this from happening again. President Bush and his family are constantly in my prayers.

Thanks for the link. I caught the video on Fox a few minutes ago, too. Amazing, but notice the purposeful smile on GW's face as he leans in to grab Agent Nick Trotta (sp?). Good humor, no harm done, just let my guy in. Everybody calm down, good. I'm hungry, let's eat. I bet the secret service will review procedures and change what needs changing asap. No easy job.

finally. a man that men can respect. what a role model -- and if you don't like that term, try this: what a superb influence.

Great point and I stand corrected. Unfortunately I have now looked at the photos so much it's hard to know for certain who is whom.

I just heard on Fox news that the USSS agent blocked by the Chilean security forces was actually in charge of the other agents. When the Chilean's stopped him, they stopped most if not all other USSS agents. Fox however downplayed it. So, again, President Bushs quick reactions may have prevented an assassination attempt on him.
To: texasflower
Thank you Texasflower. This has been a very interesting story which we will probably continue hearing for the next week.
Have a nice Sunday, too!

Haven't you heard the liberal women discuss Laura's look? Why, my goodness, she's nothing but a Stepford Wive with a strange, dreamy, robot, drugged look. They wanted a First Lady with some "life."Liberal women don't even begin to 'get it'.
It doesn't take much imagination to understand that Laura has to be some kind of woman to completely satisfy THIS much of a man.
