Have We Thanked Rush Limbaugh For Saving America?
self | 11.20.04 | JohnRobertson

Posted on 11/20/2004 6:34:48 AM PST by John Robertson

Just read this on a Clinton/Jennings thread, from a Freeper: "Back in August of 1988, a new voice came on the radio, the lovable little fuzzball - el Rushbo. Prior to then, I avoided politics and editorials, because I thought I was alone in my views. I voted conservatively and privately. Then Rush gave a voice to conservative thought."

And it made me think of something I've been meaning to post for a while...

I should had include Drudge along with Jim Rob and FR as a develop the second leg... The Internet

However I don't think Drudge interned to be id's an a conservatives Alt media site

As for FR while people now talk of the conservatives Blogospear and the FR is not a blog but variation of a bulletin board ... I would say that FR concept of posting news story's and our editorial comment makes it the proto-blog

MegaDittos to Mister Big, Secret founder and leader of the "Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy".
Thank GOD, for "Loaning" talent to Rush, who is the reason for Modern Conservatism's strong foot hold and dominance in modern politics.
Rush gave Conservatives a national voice, and now 17 year's later, many of us are moving Conservatism forward with Passion and Conviction!- yet, must remember not to grow listless-n-sleepy, as has been the case for generations.

Thanks' Rush, we couldn't have gotten it done with out you!

There are so many on our team now, but Rush is the quarterback. Living in a blue state, I never thought it mattered to voice my opinion. Rush helped me find my voice.

Agreed. There has been a lot of Rush bashing the past few years...the man is definitely not a saint, but you are 100% right. Where would we be without him?! Though some people on this forum have turned him off, I thoroughly look forward to his show, learn from him, and admire his broadcasting skills 3 hours a day, 5 days a week. He is insightful more than not, causing me to see a subject from a more unique perspective. Yeah, some of his stuff causes me to drift, but his comments on Dr. Rice and the liberal racist remarks, then reminding us about the firestorm his remarks about McNabb caused, really brought the hypocrisy into sharp contrast.

Thanks Rush, from a relatively new fan.
Your logical thinking and confidence is an encouragement.

Up here in Canada Rush is regarded as the devil incarnate.

I first heard about him around 1993 in a local newspaper
(just after the incident in which Clinton denounced him).
He was described as being some kind of kook
to the right of Attila the Hun.

My interest was piqued.

I managed to pick him up on my shortwave radio from New Orleans.

(No internet streaming then).

I was amazed how different he was from what I had read.

Sensible, intelligent, probably the best analyst of American politics.

Yeah, OK.

Wake me when a talking head, of any political stripe or particular media, 'saves' anything other than a paycheck for themselves.

Pay him back by thinking for yourself.

I agree. Man of the Year.

Rush Limbaugh's talent is on loan from G-d. However, he was the one who had to hone it and against all obstacles use it.

I don't know if he knew he was saving the country.

I am sorry he has always been and continues to be in the crossfire for his creation and advancement of the New Media, but his sacrifices have been for our gain and the gain of the United States of America.

Thanks, Rush. We can't repay you.

Hope you are enjoying yourself. Please keep it up; we still need you.

The people here are giving Rush his due for having been a catalyst of the modern conservative movement. Whether he gets paid in gold bars or used oysters, any reasonable person realizes that we would not even be close to where we are today in this country--which is to say, on the verge of a conservative pre-eminence--were it not for Rush Limbaugh. Rush does not do my thinking for me. Rush articulates his thinking, and a version of conservatism that is very marketable to a truly mass audience, and has an electronic pulpit to preach it from. Go find another thread to make trouble on.

Happy to take any opportunity given to congratulate Rush and thank him for his dedication to his viewers and our country. I first heard of him when listening to a talk show in NC and a liberal democrat caller was calling for him to be banished from the airwaves. He hadn't been on long and the station manager said he personally did not like Rush but business was business and he was staying put. I listened to find out what the commotion was all about and have been a fan for years now.

I don't know if he knew he was saving the country.

No, he didn't. But he did know from the git that he had a mission to speak conservative truths as he saw them. And speaking them led to everything positive that most of the Freepers on this thread have laid out.

Trouble? Hardly. I find it of no small concern when I see (and this thread is not the only example) adulation of talking heads to the degree that they are imparted with abilities and characteristics that I do not see in them. Such breathless accolades make one wonder how Reagan was elected without him.

IOW, when it comes close to hero-worship, I voice my concern, as I believe is the obligation of all like-minded individuals.

I would never attempt to prevent you or anyone else from speaking your mind in whatever manner you deem the most fitting, but if I see something troubling I comment on it.

Well said.

I definitely agree. Reagan was the real beginning of the Revolution but, after him, Rush Limbaugh gets as much credit as anyone.

Pay him back by thinking for yourself.

Who says we don't think for ourselves?

Did all of your conservatism spring out of you or, most likely, somebody (parents, family, friends, pundits, etc.) showed you the way?

If the New Media was around in 1980, Reagan would have had 90% of the vote. :-)

Spot-on brilliant.

Likewise, if the MSM were NOT around in this last outing (and Soros, Bing, etc.), Bush would have gotten 65% of the vote.

It came primarily from real-world experience, but it it more akin to Goldwater-conservatism, that is, philosophically consisent conservatism, not what passes for conservatism as heard on the AM band of the radio for the past 20 years or so.

That, and possibly having to take Latin and logic in high school way back in the day.
