KABC TV 7: Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES A fight between two Jordan High School students Friday led to a blacks-Latinos brawl that police said may have involved up to 1,000 people, including some gang members who came on campus for the fracas.
The scrap, which reportedly began with two girls fighting, possibly over something that happened yesterday, began during the second lunch period, officials said. Nobody was seriously hurt.

I missed the "the" the first time and thought you said Hispanics were taking over projects (social functions & positions of responsibility). I have noticed how, once a Hispanic gains a public office, directorship, etc. a great many are pressured or blatantly prefer filling under slots with Hispanics rather than equal or better qualified people of other "ethnicities". This is a travesty that backward engineers the strides toward real integration and equality under the law that American society has worked toward over the last fifty years.
Because of this phenomenon (and the PC crowd's tacit approval of it) I cast a justifiably suspicious eye on all appointments of "Hispanic-named" people to high positions. I say justifiably because too many of them abuse their offices to give preferential treatment to their "people" and try to get away with dual loyalties (or overt loyalty to Mexico!). Dual standards is another form of corruption. I'm sure our new U.S. Attorney General will put a stop to it.
It was ever thus in LA. Even at Santa Monica High in the '70s, the "Bloods" and "Beaners" were always at one another's throats, though I don't think they used weapons in class. Also, they were very much in the minority and could be controlled.
During the Rodney King riots in the '90s, I heard that Hispanics incited blacks to riot, then took over strategic positions, like major shopping malls, armed and quite dangerous. they did this to make a show of power. The police were so spooked that many left the force soon thereafter.
You'd think we had Sunni and Shi'ite idiots in LA, the animosity runs so high. What to do? No one's found an answer yet. But good-guy blacks and hispanics are doing great, have good jobs, rise to exec positions all over town.
Yes. The "Indians" also weren't one big happy family either --- there are many different groups of them. A Tarahumara has little in common with a Mayan and so on. Both would be lumped together under the umbrella word "hispanic" even though they have a different culture and language and often don't speak Spanish. Vicente Fox himself has an Irish last name and his mother came from Spain -- not really what most people consider a typical Mexican --- but then most people will call people in the USA with Spanish blood especially in areas of the SW "Mexicans" even if they never once stepped foot in Mexico and if their families never lived there.
People who have to work for a living don't tend to have time on their hands or the motivation to get involved in riots. Riots in the USA are not based on any good reason --- just boredom and a life of welfare handouts which means they're not going anywhere.
Thanks for the history (as Clem raises his fist in a salute to bd). ;-)
There are more Italian names in the Buenos Aires and Montevideo phone books than there are Spanish names.
Today, however, Valley Stream has become "little Guyana," with Guyanese Indians, West Indian Blacks, and Dominicans replacing the aging white (largely Italian or Jewish, depending on what section of town).
Diversity is strength. Just ask Northern Ireland. Or Serbia/FRY. Or Iraq. Or Ivory Coast. Or...
There are lots of Italians in Argentina and Uruguay. Many speak Spanish with an Italian accent.
If you watch Mexican TV shows on the Spanish channel, I see lots of Whites. Many of them have non-Spanish last names, often Irish, English, German, Italian, Polish, Russian, etc.
I went to catholic school. When I attended Sacred Heart, it was still all white but the teaching was so-so.
Sacred Heart girls like to tease, but only Blessed Sacrament girls go all the way, because the Chaminade guys are gay.
That's because of the color continuum and consciousness in Mexico. Many Mexicans are much more tan than what you see on tv.
LOL!!! I attended one Chaminade dance and that was it hehe!
I went to a Catholic High School in South Florida (moved there in Freshman year), where the Latino kids drove Mercedes.
Lord have mercy *lol*
That's true --- the society pages in Mexican newspapers also show a lot of of non-Spanish last names. The irony in Mexico --- the elite class consists of mostly Europeans who are running the Mexican people out of their own country while they themselves raid it of all it's wealth. The indigenous Mexican is not entitled any access to the vast wealth of Mexico -- not even if they are willing to work hard.
Sadly, it is typical of Latin America. It has been like that since the first Spaniards set foot in the New World.
And it goes back further --- look how the Aztecs ruled over the other Indians --- they enslaved many of them and even sacrificed them on their altars to their blood-thirsty god. The Spaniards to many of the Indians were just another tribe more powerful than the Aztecs but with a more benign God.
The Aztecs were known for sacrificing humans and practicing cannibalism.
