Ah yes, the Albanians. A country on the terror list with our US Navy ships forbidden to enter their ports.

That is until they became billclinton's new best friends.

"Similar trouble could break out again at any time. It just needs a spark. We are in a position ... to put 30,000 guerrilla fighters into action."

A broadcaster said on Thursday that German intelligence knew in advance that ethnic Albanians in Kosovo were planning violence in March

That should read "invading ethnic Albanian ragheads".

Fighting for the INVADING Ragheads against the Christians already there was and is the most disgraceful moment in our country's history.

I never felt more ashamed of America. I never though I would root for our "enemies". Yes flame me - I rooted for the resident Christians and their Serbian Protectors over the UN forces.

"if they have 30'000 fighters ready, who armed them and why...???"

Well I guess that Dutch documentary that was circulating FreeRepublic prior to the US election is a clue to where they got some of thier weapons from.

As to why? I'll say we are going to find out next year.

There is more to this story.

German police contigent acted professionally during the March pogrom. It was WEHRMACHT (er, Bundeswehr) that acted seemingly sheepishly. They acted in cold blood, as this report shows.

Germans have had a very good reason.

After the WWII, Aliies forbade German army to own and use CHEMICAL AGENTS because it seemed prudent precaution having in mind what Germany did in WWI and WWII.

Since teargas (CS) is listed as chemical agent, Bundeswhehr in Kosovo was not allowed to use it as non-lethal crowd disperser. Although they could use rubber bullets and other non-chemical, non-lethal agents, they did not. They wanted to make case of Bundeswehr being inefficient because it can not use CHEMICAL AGENTS.

After the March pogrom, the issue was debated in Bundestag and Bundeswehr was given the right to use chemical agents.

Soon afterwards, Germany pressed for new FIRST STRIKE Nuclear policy for joint EU forces.

Germany does not have WMD. Yet. But have right to use chemical agents and will have access to French and perhaps even British nukes via political means.

In 1999 NATO aggression Bundeswehr acted militarilly outside of German soil and that was in violation of German Constitution. Precedent was set.

In 2004 Bundeswehr was given right to use chemical agents. Again owing to Kosovo.

In 2004 Germany influenced how French nukes will be used for First Strike (watch out Israel)

NATO get out of the way and let the Serbian Army deal with these animals.

Oops.... I forgot the rules, only Israel and the U.S. can defend themselves against Islamic Terror, not Orthodox Christians.

Kosovo, a landlocked Serbian province of two million people, has been under U.N. administration since June 1999 after an 11-week NATO bombing campaign to halt Serbian repression of ethnic Albanians.

The reason they are referred to as Ethnic al-Banians is they aren't Kosovars. They are invading rags that we supported

What an asset it would be to transfer all that manpower we have in Kosovo to Iraq or Afghanistan (or the U.S. border, for that matter). And by letting the Serbian army come in and restore order in Kosovo, we'd be getting two strikes against terrorism for the price of one.

A country on the terror list

You don't know what you are talking about. And since we've discussed this before, you're willfully clueless. The Albanians are our allies; here's from the State Department background notes on Albania:

"Albanian peacekeepers are part of the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan and the international stabilization force in Iraq. Albania has been a steadfast supporter of U.S. policy in Iraq, and one of only four nations to contribute troops to the combat phase of Operation Enduring Freedom.[where they've suffered casualties] ... Albania enjoys friendly and cooperative bilateral relations with the U.S. Pro-U.S. sentiment is widespread among the population...Albania has wholeheartedly supported the U.S. in the global war on terrorism, by freezing terrorist assets, shutting down suspect Islamic NGOs, expelling Islamic extremists, and providing military and diplomatic support for the U.S.-led actions in Afghanistan and Iraq.

with our US Navy ships forbidden to enter their ports

That might be news to the Navy. They've conducted gunnery exercises at Albania's Sazan Island in the Adriatic and this past year the Marines deploying to Afghanistan did their final prep exercise in Albanian military training areas. The 173d Airborne has trained there and our 10th S.F. has been on several exercises.

Both Rumsfeld & Powell have visited Albania to thank them; Powell even walked into the crowd in downtown Tirana and shook hands. I've been all over the world in my military career and have never been to a more pro-American place. It just angers me to see you spit in their face while that country has supported us every step of the way and their soldiers are bleeding in Iraq along with our guys.

Nice, both ignorant and racist.

The Albanians have been the majority population in Kosovo since the 18th Century. During the 20th Century they've varied roughly between 2/3 and 9/10 of the population. Kosovo is their home. After the Serbs conquered Kosovo in the 1912-1913 Balkans War and amputated it from the rest of the Albanian populated lands, the term ethnic-Albanian came into use to distinguish between those Albanians who lived within the newly established borders of the country of Albania versus the Albanians in western Macedonia, Kosovo, and southern Montenegro who were left ouside the political borders of Albania.

The Kosovar Albanians believe that after the 1912-1913 Balkans War they were unjustly placed under Serbian rule in violation of the principle of self determination. They see the conflict as a struggle for liberation against an alien, oppressive, and at times brutal Belgrade government.

As for your "raghead" comment: The Albanians are a European race. They are largely secular and religiously tolerant. The President of Albania is Catholic. The Prime Minister is Orthodox. The Kosovar President is also Catholic. While in rural areas, some men still wear a distinctive white skull cap, for the most part they dress as westerners--not "ragheads". Here's some photos of Albanians in Albania (the women tend to wear their burkas a little tight):

There's only 1800 troops left in Kosovo; mostly National Guard. The United States military forces that aren't doing much aren't in Kosovo, they're in our Navy & Air Force. Time to turn some of those guys into ground pounders. We don't need to close the GIUK gap anymore--I think the Soviets have given up on coming that way. Although our Navy hasn't figured that out yet. And that gray funnel on the horizon is vastly over-rated; e.g. Iraq, Iran, Somalia, Haiti, Liberia, Balkans ethnic cleansing--didn't stop any of it.

Now, as for the Serb Army coming in to "restore order", the last time they were in charge, thousands of Albanians & hundreds of Serbs died; not to mention hundreds of thousands of refugees and tens of thousands of destroyed homes. If that's the order you want--sure, send the Serbs back in. All the post-riot histrionics notwithstanding, a total of 11 Albanians and 8 Serbs were killed in the March violence. It not only could have been a lot worse, it has been--when the Serbs were in charge.
