Little Rock, Ark., may have a new $165 million presidential library. But the sleepy, grits-fed city barely has enough hotel rooms for the celebs who've come to pay homage to Bill Clinton.Early yesterday, Jordan's Queen Noor was due to check into a Comfort Inn miles from the ceremonial action.
The lowly volunteer who gave up her room for the queen was planning to "knock on the door and ask her if I could have the shampoo - just so I could take a look at her."
Democratic Party planners spoiled the volunteer's dream when they saw where the queen - the former American Lisa Halaby - was booked and quickly found a room for her at the upscale Peabody Hotel.
Kevin Spacey was spotted at the Comfort Inn, but he, too, was moved in the knick of time.
Other celebs were routed directly to the Peabody, where Clinton has occupied the presidential suite. (The hotel was known as the Excelsior when Paula Jones claims that then-Gov. Clinton solicited some special room service).
U2's Bono and The Edge worked a rope line of fans before their performance at the library. Also at the Peabody (where a troop of ducks daily parades through the lobby) were Barbra Streisand, Robin Williams, Mary Steenburgen and Ted Danson, Chevy Chase, Markie Post, Al Franken, Rev. Jesse Jackson, Judge Reinhold, Norman Lear, and presidential offspring Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg, Anne Eisenhower, Patricia Nixon Cox, Chip Carter, Linda Johnson Robb and Lucy Johnson Turpin.
Sadly, none of them seemed likely to join for the former President for one of those late nights he used to have in the old days.
"His doctors have told him he has to go to bed early," one source tells the Daily News' Ken Bazinet.

Was JF...ingKerry invited? What about Silky Pony? I managed to avoid all but miniseconds of the library floperola. Caught a little of O'Reilly early this am, and found out Dick Morris hadn't been invited. Hill looked triumphant, she's ready to rock and roll. Morris would like to see Sec. of State, Dr. Rice run against her. He doesn't think Rudy would get enough support from McCain type republicans if he ran against Hill. O'Reilly does. In fact, he thinks it's a case of anybody but Hill would win. McCain would be 73, though. Too old and he's all over the place on issues.
The Peabody Hotel is in Memphis, TN about 150 miles away.
And the rain fell on the just and the unjust. The shot of Clinton speaking in the rain and his no doubt expensive haircut becoming waterlogged was worth it all to sit through yesterday.
Little Rock will never be able to wash down the slime left by this crowd of Phonies.
Wow, you really have to go all the way to Memphis to avoid the little people?
Folks, my prediction. The Clinton Library will be a big bust. Attendance will be mediocre at best. God sent his wrath and disgust to the enabler of 911 and murderer of American innocents by having the heavens cry with pouring rain through his whole opening ceremony. As soon as it was over the rain stopped!!!
If someone waved a wand and made me the stylebook editor for newspapers, the one thing I would change is the practice of referring to foreign royalty as "King" or "Queen" or "Prince". It is an undeserved honor that should be repugnant to any American. Queen Noor can just be plain old Lisa Halaby. If it was good enough for her when she was born, it's good enough for her now.
His Lie-bery looks like a giant double wide about to launch over the river...they should put some huge tires on both sides and a big hitch in front and write "Bubba's bordello" on the side....
And speaking of Carolyn Kennedy......has there ever been the child of a president who has been such a nasty, vicious, political hack?
His water-logged hair couldn't mask the considerable thinning on top of his head, either.
I was talking about her looks.............got it???
I was talking about her looks.............got it???
Yeah, Clinton looked terrible. I watched a bit of the Peter Jennings interview at the library and Clinton looked dead.
He didn't sound normal either. To me it seemed like a bunch of Hollywood "has beens" had nothing better to do but try and get noticed at the library opening.
HA!!
Yea, sure, OK.
But the question is now as its always been.
...with who.
Yeah...Get to bed early with anybody but Hillary.....
Yup, the party of the people. Friends of the little guy. Snort.
BINGO!
On O'Reilly last night, he had a stint with Geraldo who, in turn had a clip of himself getting a brief one-on-one in the rain with the Slickster...
There on the side was "the Babs" scrabbling like a groupie (gropie? gropee?) to get in the scene and close to "the Impeached One."
Bwahahahahahaaa
No space. Doublewide lot was filled.
