Failed presidential candidate John Kerry is considering filing a libel suit against the leader of the group Swiftboat Veterans for Truth, John O'Neill, whose book "Unfit for Command" is credited with capsizing Kerry's Vietnam-based campaign.
"I don't know if they will actually go forward," a member of Kerry's inner circle told New York Post's PAGE SIX, edited by Richard Johnson. "But consideration is serious. If Kerry plans on running again in 2008 — and I'm hearing he will — it would make sense that he'd file the suit."

I saw a report right after the election that Susan Estrich contacted the Kerry campaign for talking points on the Swift Boat ads (prior to her appearance on Hannity and Colmes). She was told there were no talking points.

Seriously, I doubt he sues for all of the reasons stated above.
This may turn out to be a lose/lose situation for him.
If he sues, we have discovery.
If he does not sue and plans to run again, the pressure may be on him to shut down the Swifties before they can affect the next election.
After hearing all of the "Liar, Liar, Pants on Fire!" rhetoric from Kerry's band of lackeys, his reluctance to bring this to court may be questioned.
Never happen. Maybe the Swiftvets should sue Kerry for making extortionate threats like this.
We wish Kerry would file suit. He won't, because under discovery, he'd have to release all of his military records...and he won't. More BS from the left.

Look for the part about "truth is an absolute defense"...
That would mean that the gloves would come off and O Neil would have the right to damm near anything under discovery including probably being able to get a court to order the release of sKerrys actual military records.
