Failed presidential candidate John Kerry is considering filing a libel suit against the leader of the group Swiftboat Veterans for Truth, John O'Neill, whose book "Unfit for Command" is credited with capsizing Kerry's Vietnam-based campaign.
"I don't know if they will actually go forward," a member of Kerry's inner circle told New York Post's PAGE SIX, edited by Richard Johnson. "But consideration is serious. If Kerry plans on running again in 2008 and I'm hearing he will it would make sense that he'd file the suit."

Oh, sure! And Kerry to open himself up to depositions on the truth of the allegations! Hahahahahah! When Hell freezes over.
It's not libel if it is true.
Sounds like hot air to me...
Nope. A lawyer who has him/herself as a client is a bigger fool than just any lawyer. Nope. You get your own lawyer. That way, someone unattached to the emotional side of the case is thinking clearly.
That is exactly right. Those military records that he never released will come out and it will be discovered that he had a less than honorable dishcharge and that some of his PH's are suspect.
ROTFLMAO!
counter suit and force them to go to trial
not like your situation...good luck by the way

I agree in general principle, and on most cases people should have lawyers to represent them. But...
O'Neill spent the past few months making his case against John Kerry--the same exact case that would be made in the courtroom (proving that his charges are true, except he would have the benefit of discovery). He probably would have lawyers on his defense team to help him, but I think he'd want to be the big dog. SBVfT was his baby, bringing down Kerry was his project, and this would be his chance to nail Kerry once and for all.
He's also had three decades and a Presidential campaign to deal with the emotional side of the case. I doubt he would screw it up because of his emotions.
Of course, it's not going to happen, because Kerry doesn't want to face up to the truth.
