This is the trap that O'Neill set for Kerry from the beginning! If he sues he has to release his records to prove what the Swiftees said is a lie! It's going to be even harder to sue when his own words have been used against him! BRING IT ON!

Nonsense. The standard for a public figure is so high he couldn't win and truth is a defense..

A Civil suit is going to be impossible for sKerry to win.

The discovery phase would effectively end his pathetic political career.

Kerry is a chicken-sh!t traitor.

I've read he's literally a 'crack' shot at wasting the enemy, so long as their backs are in his sights.

Kerry WANTS TO SUE?

HA! - HA!

O'Neill spent half of his time PLEADING for Kerry to try just that. That's how the documentation would be more likely to get out - on discovery. I can't count how many times O'Neill BEGGED Kerry to sue him. And Kerry wouldn't even seem to consider it.

Now, "the Kerry camp is thinking about filing a libel lawsuit against Regnery and O'Neill," a source close to the candidate's inner circle tells PAGE SIX. "I don't know if they will actually go forward, but consideration is serious. If Kerry plans on running again in 2008 -- and I'm hearing he will -- it would make sense that he'd file the suit."

Kerry's rep, David Wade , said he hadn't heard about any proposed lawsuit, but promised to look into it.

Kerry plans on running again in 2008? Hmmm... Lemme see.... Let's do the math....

In 2008, "Anybody but Bush" won't be on the ticket.... which means that some significant subset of 70% of "Kerry's" 2004 vote will be, in a very real sense, negotiable....

Further into the article it becomes clear that it is not an actual suit, but rather, the illusion of the intention to sue, that is the objective of this press release.

There is no way that Kerry would sue O'Neill. He'd have to be a total idiot... Oh, wait....

(That is not to say Kerry doesn't have a meritorious claim in this matter, i.e., against the clintons and their operatives involved in the hostile, eleventh-hour takeover of his campaign.)

kerry will never file libel action against O'Neill and Regnery. If he did, he would have to release his full military records and he won't do that ever.

I repeat -- there is no way kerry is going to file on this.

Two reasons why Kerry will never do it: A) O'Neill has the best defense: the truth. B) Discovery.

I wonder if O'Neill could bait Kerry into actually going through with this. Publicly taunt him over it, etc. to the point that Kerry will get rattled and feel heat from supporters to defend himself.

I'm not sure the public wants to the Swifties continue to pursue Kerry, as long as he's somewhat magnanimous.

But this bluster re-opens a door that Kerry might find it hard to close.

O'Neill and the swifties are the true heroes of this election. I could not put his book down...It cast Kerry in such a bad light that I knew he could not be President of this nation......

Just as a liberal acquaintance of mine predicted. After the election Kerry would go after the Swiftvets. Perhaps they, too, have a little something in mind for post-election strategy.

In order to sue, he has to be able to prove the allegations untrue. I don't think Kerry wants this in court. They could suphoena his service records, which he has so closely guarded and then they'd end up under public scrutiny.
