The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Connect these dots, now
Full Story
"We should have secured the Mexican border."

That could be the pitiful lament we hear from negligent U.S. officials if Al Qaeda pulls off an attack on the United States using weapons of mass destruction smuggled across our southern frontier.

Were that horrendous event to happen, leaders in the administration and Congress would be justly hit with the same question that was perhaps unjustly cast at them and their predecessors after the unprecedented Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks: Why didn't they connect the dots?

Still with you all at TM, despite my lack of input. I've been printing out each update and reading it late at night when all is quiet at home. I will try to begin contributing once again very soon. Things have been difficult these past few weeks. Thank all of you so very much for your prayers for our family. God Bless all of you.

"The only alpabets with power these days are ACLU members."

Thanks Cindy. I am still in blinking awe of Myraddin's comment that in his town there are two ambulances to handle 60,000 people. Scares the heck out of me especially knowing our government has told us the "big event" is bound to happen eventually. Judging by this example alone, it won't take much for people to go into full scale panic if the worst happens in multiple unprepared locations.

I am also having a little difficulty understanding those who fear our liberties are being taken away when giving more of those liberties to people who constantly pledge to kill us and use their liberties (based on minority or ethnic background) to remove the very platforms upon which our country was built and has made us powerful is substantially worse in potential outcome and is destroying our country, protecting criminals and turning us into a third world country with no industry, morals, values or business scruples. Sorry for the rant.

"Attacks Across Iraq Kill More Than 60"

Sunday, December 19, 2004

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "BAGHDAD, Iraq — Car bombs rocked Iraq's two holiest Shiite cities Sunday, killing at least 62 people and wounding more than 120, while in downtown Baghdad (search) dozens of gunmen carried out a brazen ambush on car, pulling out three election officials and executing them on the pavement in the middle of morning traffic.

The bombs exploded an hour apart. First, a homicide blast ripped through parked minibuses at the entrance to the Karbala (search) bus station. Then a car bomb shattered a central square in Najaf, crowded with residents watching a funeral procession. The city police chief and provincial governor were among the group but were not hurt.

Also Sunday, a militant group claimed to have kidnapped 10 Iraqis working for an American security contractor, threatening to kill them unless the company pulls out of Iraq."

You leave Atlanta and can't tell where one stops and the other begins. Atlanta is inside I-285 and Smyrna is on the outside. Now from downtown Atlanta to Smyrna is 20-30 or so miles. Everything on the north side of Atlanta is heavy populated as far as 50 miles out from Atlanta.

What are you looking for?

There's several Smyrna's just like there are several DeKalbs and/or Kalbs.

Those are 2 names/places that just seem to be cropping up.

I was very impressed with my wife's skill as a dispatcher in San Diego. She was assigned to the Sheriff's Office Coast radio. Her radio towers could hear units all the way to Escondido. Good thing. The Harmony Grove fire burned down the towers in North County. My wife went from 35 deputies to 60 deputies plus some fire traffic. Her radio was the only one that could hear all those people. It was a very busy night.

Bin Laden takes credit for bleeding the USSR dry with Afghanistan? Hardly. The USSR wiped out their financial reserves trying to compete with the Strategic Defense Initiative started under Reagan. That sucked the economic life out of them. Bin Laden's boasts are typical Islamic fantasy.

Thanks for this analysis, Myrddin.

When I read of OBL's boasts, it struck me as a desperate attempt to glorify himself (to the Islamic world) in the light of history. Is he fearful that 9/11 will be the only horror/historic event attributed to him? Next thing you know, he'll be taking credit for the fall of the Berlin Wall. Oh wait... that was a POSITIVE event.

Ok, next breaking news from OBL is that he remote-controlled the iceberg that brought down the Titanic.

Bin Laden depends upon his charisma and the relative level of ignorance in poor Islamic countries. His boasts will be accepted as the gospel truth in the Islamic world. Ignorance and gullibility go hand in hand.
