The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

Connect these dots, now
Full Story
"We should have secured the Mexican border."

That could be the pitiful lament we hear from negligent U.S. officials if Al Qaeda pulls off an attack on the United States using weapons of mass destruction smuggled across our southern frontier.

Were that horrendous event to happen, leaders in the administration and Congress would be justly hit with the same question that was perhaps unjustly cast at them and their predecessors after the unprecedented Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks: Why didn't they connect the dots?

Can anyone tell me how many suspected terrorists were jailed after 9/11. I've heard everything from a couple dozen to two thousand. I have always wondered this and also wonder how many are still locked up.

I've been spending alot of time at a dialysis clinic (taking dad),,,,some of his features look similar to end stage renal disease. Note the yellow-brown coloring of his skin, the bloating of his face, his receding eyes, the lack of turgor in his skin....just a thought

I recall the Ukrainean pilots (young and healthy) who died within hours of delivering their "cargo". Some one in authority had paid off the workers not to search that cargo. I always wondered what it was, and what killed the pilots.

arsenic poisoning takes time, doesn't it? Recall that horrible movie "Flowers in the Attic", where they slowly killed the children off with arsenic on cookies?

"Case in point. Iran is building rockets and paying lip service to halting nuke development. NK is stalling for time while it does some nuke work. It would not surprise me one bit to see NK nuclear materials inside a Pakistani warhead on top of an Iranian rocket headed toward a target specified by Al Qaeda."

BUMP! They have been collaborating for years.

My guess--Paki islamists are getting ready to depose Mr. Musharaff. He has backed off the search for OBL to appease the warlords----but it is too late for him.

•Russian companies supplied missile equipment and know-how to Iran, India and China, and were instrumental in speeding up Iran's Shahab-3 medium-range missile.

Also Russian "rogue" scientists helped AQ with tech support for their nukes. China helped with the triggers.

President (MUSHARRAF) to seek more trade with S. America

ON BOARD PRESIDENT'S AIRCRAFT, Nov 27: President General Pervez Musharraf flies into Latin America on Saturday on a week-long visit to Brazil, Argentina and Mexico to forge a strong relationship with the important regional countries with a thrust on exploring possibilities for increased trade and economic cooperation.

President Musharraf is the first Pakistani leader to pay bilateral visits to these countries and his visit is expected to be an important milestone towards enhancing the country's political and economic relations with South America.

"We want to impart impetus to our trade with the strong Latin American countries with a particular focus on joint ventures in potential areas," Chairman of Export Promotion Bureau Tariq Ikaram said on Saturday.

Pakistan's exports to the three countries have seen an upturn in recent years but currently hover around a modest level of $60 million, far below the vast existing potential.

According to Tariq Ikram Pakistan is eying for a decent increase in its exports to fast-expanding South American nations with an estimated target of 20 to 30 million US dollars surge in the next few years.

The promising sectors of bilateral cooperation include carpet, rice, sports equipment, sportswear, surgical goods, sugar, fertilizer plants etc.

Under President Musharraf, Pakistani exports have almost doubled in the five years from $7.8 billion to around $13 billion.

In addition to Commerce Minister Humayun Akhtar Khan and Minister of State for Privatization, a strong group of businessmen is included in the president's delegation.

"Our objective is to diversify market access for our businessmen," says Ikram.

Officials said that in view of rapid globalization, Pakistan felt it was important to improve and consolidate its political and economic relations with the Latin American countries.-APP

also from mutter's- they are keeping excellent track of all these chess moves.

Great. Now we have Chavez and Khatami cozing up, with Musharaf en route to the same area. They "oppose unilateralism"...ie...they oppose US

Iran, Venezuela oppose unilateralism

Tehran, nov 28

The presidents of Iran and Venezuela here Sunday expressed their opposition to unilateralism, hegemony, violence and intervention in domestic affairs of countries.

Talking to reporters after the official welcome for the visiting Venezuelan head of state, Iranian President Mohammad Khatami and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez stressed that ties between their two countries will grow even stronger.

"We should be powerful with our countries' scientific and economic progress the source of our strength," Khatami said.

He pointed to the two countries' economic potentials and called for expanded bilateral cooperation.

Khatami noted that Tehran and Caracas share similar views on many issues and have an exemplary cooperation in various international fora, including the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC).

He welcomed the growing, active participation of Venezuela's private sector in the Iranian economy, saying, "we should strengthen the presence of our private sectors in our respective economies and I hope we will witness a giant leap forward in relations through removal of bureaucratic problems."

"Venezuela is located in a sensitive region of the American continent and Iran is located in a sensitive situation of the Middle East.

The two countries can complement each other through bilateral interaction and develop."[/b]

The Iranian President highlighted the importance of strengthening the countries' agriculture sectors, saying agricultural development was key to promoting the national economy and affording social security.

He pointed to the recent referendum in Venezuela which confirmed the support of the nation for Hugo Chavez and said this support would effectively neutralize conspiracies and plots against the country.

Khatami expressed the hope his Venezuelan counterpart would take added steps to reinvigorate bilateral relations and cooperation with Iran even after his term expires.

The Venezuelan President voiced his country's interest in all-out relations with Iran, particularly in the petrochemical field.

"Venezuela is opposed to a unilateral world order. we are ready to use our potentials to forge a multilateral world," he said.

He stressed that his country would not accept interference or pressure from any imperialistic or foreign power in its domestic affairs.

He said Iranian officials and the nation are friends of the Venezuelan nation and government, and lauded President Khatami as a "prominent thinker."

Chavez hoped his visit to Iran would be highly fruitful and further strengthen the bonds that bind the two countries.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez arrived here early Sunday morning heading a high-ranking politico-economic delegation.

He arrived in Tehran from Moscow on the fourth leg of a five-nation tour which has already taken him to Spain, Libya and Russia.

From here he flies to Doha, Qatar for the last leg of his tour.

The Venezuelan President was accorded a red carpet welcome by his Iranian counterpart at Sa'adabad cultural complex minutes after his arrival.

President Chavez is accompanied in this visit by members of his cabinet, including the ministers of foreign affairs, defense, agriculture, energy, trade, culture and communications, industries and mines, as well as the mayor of the Venezuelan Capital Caracas.

In Tehran the Venezuelan President is scheduled to hold separate meetings with Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, President Khatami, Expediency Council Chairman Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani and a number of other senior Iranian officials.

Iran and Venezuela will sign four economic and trade documents for wider Tehran-Caracas cooperation in those fields, it has been learned.

During his two-day visit, Chavez will be the guest of honor at an unveiling ceremony for a statue of Simon Bolivar, one of South America's greatest generals who defeated the Spaniards in battles that won independence for Venezuela and a number of other South American countries.

He will also attend another ceremony naming a street in Tehran in honor of Bolivar.

Venezuela is a leading member of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) and the world's 5th largest oil exporter.

Sunday November 28, 2004

PHILADELPHIA (AP) Divers found a six-foot gash in one of seven cargo tanks on the Greek-owned tanker that leaked 30,000 of crude oil into the Port of Philadelphia, spokesmen for the Coast Guard and the vessel's owner said Sunday.

Divers exploring the listing Athos I on Saturday found holes in the underwater cargo tank closest to the stern, or rear, of the vessel and in an outside ballast tank...

...While the company maintains that something struck the tanks underwater, the Coast Guard investigation has not yet confirmed that scenario, Lt. Buddy Dye said.

CHECK THIS OUT! I read this over at Final Phase, posted by "Barking Dog" (love that name)...I snipped out the parts we have posted here, but check out the comments toward the end of the article:

"Doctors were unable to confirm suspicions of poisoning because Yushchenko first checked into the clinic four days after the symptoms appeared -- too late for tests to show if poisoning had occurred, Korpan said."

At Rudolfinerhaus, Yushchenko underwent a week of intensive treatment for several illnesses, including acute pancreatitis, a viral skin disease and nerve paralysis on the left side of his face, Korpan said.

Clinic director Michael Zimpfer said doctors were unable to explain some of Yushchenko's symptoms, particularly his strong backaches.

He said they could not rule out stress or a viral infection.

Yushchenko's doctors in Kiev, the Ukrainian capital, said they had determined that "chemicals not of a food origin'' had triggered the illness.

Zimpfer and the clinic's chief physician, Dr. Lothar Wicke -- who requested police protection after receiving an anonymous threat while treating Yushchenko -- later asked for outside help from "a specialist in military operations and biological weapons,'' the Austria Press Agency reported.

Yushchenko's medical files since have been sealed and turned over to Austrian prosecutors, local media reported.

Authorities have not said whether they planned to investigate further or merely turn over their findings to Ukraine.

Earlier this month, Volodymyr Syvkovych, the head of a 15-member Ukrainian parliamentary commission that investigated the mysterious illness, said a forensic medical examination found no traces of "any biological weapons'' in Yushche

Severe backaches.....
Couldn't check for toxins since it had been 4 days ----that doesn't make sense. Arsenic and such can be detected for quite a long time after exposure. Any medical experts here who have an idea what chemical could do that to a person, then dissipate in 4 days?

Probably we never will. Yet, WHAT chemical (not from food) could do that to a person and be indetectable after 4 days? And they said chemical, not biotoxin. The severe backaches really lead me to wonder about kidney destruction.
