This is a LIVE THREAD for discussion of the impending certification of final results in the Washington State Governor's race, between Dino Rossi (R) and Christine Gregoire (D).
The Secretary of State is required to certify the final results this evening. As of 4:28 P.M. PST, Gregoire leads by 29 votes with 2521 votes from 4 or 5 counties left to be reported. King County (the Dem's stronghold) has apparently made its final report.
Washington State law requires a machine recount if the certified results show a difference of less than 2000, which now seems almost certain. It also requires a manual recount if the difference is less than 150 votes. A machine recount is estimated to take a week, a hand recount a month or more.
If the final result were a tie, the winner would be decided by lot.
Carlson has reported that BIAW will be suing Grays Harbor and King Counties.
Wisconsin sure isn't - I wanted to watch that race and you have to go into each county individually (they do have the links on the SOS site).
I'm almost starting to think of the counties as states, and the votes as electoral votes. It's hard to realize we are talking about individual votes at this point in the game, after millions have been counted.
Enhancing is for ballots that have overvotes on them and are kicked out by the machine. If they followed the directions and handled the overvotes correctly, the elections people fix it so the machine can read it. Very laborious process.
As I have already stated, Rossi should win by a nose (I think no more than 40 votes). For this reason we have to go to Court, for the law be applied equally all over the State of WA.
What's BIAW?
Where are you guys watching this count?
Very cool, any one who has not seen this http://www.murdoconline.net/archives/001729.html should check it out. Thank your brother!
That's your building industry association....
Sure would like to know who has the most NEED for a "reconstructed or enhanced" ballot.....Dems or Pubs.....sheesh. I suppose some get mangled in the "mail."
A few hours ago, I projected Rossi by 51 votes on another thread.
I'm sticking with my 371 for Rossi. Of course, I'm assuming that GH is a wash. Has been thus far.
Building Industry Association of Washington.
Actually, a lot of the damaged ballots are military ballots. Others had rips or tears in them.
The Sec of State website - a link is at the start of this thread.
I think it's the Brain Injury Association of Washington... Oh, no wait - that's the liberal BIAW. The BIAW is actually the Building Industry Association of Washington, IIRC - a Group that is NOT happy with the 'rats...
Thanks.
Actually if he does win, Thinking that if within 150 votes, the recount is by hand only as opposed to if within 1200 votes electronic recounting can be used. I worryin big time about the Rats "Finding" more votes. Worrying big time. We are due here for &@*!!!
Go DinO!
o(^;^)o
I just got the very last about what John Carlson was saying about an extra 1,000 votes from King County 'showing up' this afternoon - did you hear anything about that?
Ah Ha....through the mail.....can you identify them as "military" by their looks? (Tinfoil hat on now.)
