Washington State Governor's Race--Certification (Live Thread)(Rossi (R) wins by 261 votes!)
Washington State Secretary of State ^ | 11/17/2004 | The Conservator

Posted on 11/17/2004 4:44:42 PM PST by TheConservator

This is a LIVE THREAD for discussion of the impending certification of final results in the Washington State Governor's race, between Dino Rossi (R) and Christine Gregoire (D).

The Secretary of State is required to certify the final results this evening. As of 4:28 P.M. PST, Gregoire leads by 29 votes with 2521 votes from 4 or 5 counties left to be reported. King County (the Dem's stronghold) has apparently made its final report.

Washington State law requires a machine recount if the certified results show a difference of less than 2000, which now seems almost certain. It also requires a manual recount if the difference is less than 150 votes. A machine recount is estimated to take a week, a hand recount a month or more.

If the final result were a tie, the winner would be decided by lot.

Thanks! My brother (a professional Excel wiz) actually designed it and has been sending it out since the day after the election. I wish I would have thought of posting it before now.

Based on comments made by Grays Harbor’s election coordinator, Gregoire should take the county by 277 votes (approx) in their recount, to be completed by 5pm. That means that Gregoire should pick up another 100-120 votes in the final count. Barring unxpected surprises from Benton, Franklin, Whitman, or Grays Harbor, Dino shold win by a nose.

If Rossi pulls this out with Dem Fraud and the coming recounts, it'll be pretty amazing. Proves every vote does make a difference, and would appear mine is in a county that could conceivably help put him on the top.

All ties should be decided by a duel.

I volunteer to check and load the pistols...

Someone tell >250 for rossi. It would be a victory if Rossi is ahead of 150+ votes.

Maybe he can make one for election day 2006 for lots of states. (I'm sure not all SoS websites are so data friendly.)

Whitman broke right about with it's pre count %. If that holds Rossi should pick up Approx 250 in Benton and 80 in Franklin. That would put it at around 300-350 Rossi lead with Gray's as the wild card.

I was worried about Whitman - Rossi didn't have a big lead there after the regular vote, and it's a college town. Picking up that many votes there was a real shot in the arm for Rossi.

Rossi up by 4. Picked up 32 votes in Whitman. I had him getting 23 so things are looking good. Those comments by the GH elections officer worries me though.

We here in the east have our fingers, toes, and whatever crossed for you guys.
Also said a little silent prayer if you are so inclined.
As I may be moving out there in the next year or so it sure would be nice to see some conservatives in power there.
Waiting anxiously in NC.
