If I remember correctly, the name "Nodong" is the designation of the CIA. It's the name of the location the missile was first sighted in.

Glad to see this black-hearted freak getting dissed in any form, by anyone.....You know, this reminds me of the final days of various Roman emperors: "They went under b/c they were above the law. They became less than men b/c power had made them gods."

Me, I'd be looking for Chinese fingerprints and a hand-picked successor.

You are not allowed to quote Ms. Garafalo on this thread! :-)

Think maybe China had an indication of some looming fate of Kim since they deployed many troops along the PRC/NK border over the past few months? Seems too coincidental, IMO.

AIT, you've got a ringside seat so to speak.
What's your take on this? (Not only what it means, but is it true, as it appears to come from Debka - not exactly an ironclad guarantee of accuracy . . . )
I mentioned on another thread that even after Papa Doc died in Haiti, they didn't take his portraits down for some time (just making sure he was really dead, I guess.)

I think Debka is just feeding off of Western news sources, something we all do.
Debka is no closer to this action than any of us, even bloggers in pajamas on the internet. Nobody can tell me that Debka has researchers or agents in North Korea, either. It is not plagarism, but let's just say they borrow from what is already out there (at least vis a vis the DPRK stuff).

ITAR-TASS (Russian news agency) is spreading info that his is probably dead because his images are being removed from everywhere..
To: EggsAckley
If his pictures are down it's a sure sign there's been a coup.

This, IMHO, is just the opening and indeed interesting salvos of some historic shifts in the history of Korea.
A lot of stuff is going on with various who have interest in the Korean peninsula. No doubt the re-election of Bush two weeks ago is the beginning of the beginnning o the tipping point. If Kerry had won, all bets would be off. These things must come first, a trickle perhaps, rays of hope, and then more things afterward, before the big downfall. That might take another year or two, but I think it will be soon in relative terms. (And of course, I hope it is tomorrow, with a stable and friendly alternative put immediately in place). I wouldn't be surprised if he actually commits suicide at some time, but he could be assassinated, or otherwise flee to Europe to a safe haven where 70% of his money probably is anyway.

I suppose that the worship of the late dictator Kim Il Sung (
yimach shemo vezikhro!) is so ingrained that even dissidents feel the necessity to appeal to his memory (hence the charge that Jong Il killed his father).
These mutligenerational dynasties represent "anti-fascism," people! [/sarcasm] Something tells me that if Mussolini had stuck with his original socialism and took over Italy in its name he'd still be running the place!

Somehow, I doubt that'll fly too well with an already starving population who often hears rumors of China's prosperity...
At least I hope...

That's eggsackley what I'm thinking.
1. Bush re-elected
2. Daschle deposed
3. Arafat dead
4. Kim Jong-mentally-ill removed???
