Is he the source of the Kerry talking points on Tora Bora?

If he was, what of it?

If the truth hurts, there are better ways of addressing it than shooting the messenger.

absolutely.

As reported in the Washington Post,
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A43899-2004Nov11.html
"Scheuer was chief of the CIA's bin Laden station from 1996 to 1999 and remained a counterterrorism analyst after that." This was all pre-Bush.

The CBS actually includes this information towards the end:
"Whatever you call it, in 1999, three years after he started the bin Laden unit, Scheuer's candor got him into trouble with his supervisors at the CIA. What were the circumstances under which he left the bin Laden unit?

"I think I became too insistent that we were not pursuing this target with enough vigor and with enough risk-taking - - an unwillingness to take risks," says Scheuer. "I got relieved of the position I was in. I had a lovely sojourn in the library and then had other sojourns since."

His exile ended shortly after the attacks of Sept. 11, when he was brought back to the bin Laden unit as a special adviser. But by then, everything had changed."

Without specifically noting that all ten occasions were during Clintons presidency.

Who would of thought that the proud network of Dan Rather would involve itself in such obfuscation.

Incidentally, his story is being promoted as an example of Bush driving out the "whistle-blowers" in his "purge" of the CIA. They paint a picture of brave agents working against a corrupt presidency, when what you really have is a bunch of loose-lipped bureaucrats with an inflated sense of their own importance.

Mostly incompetant bureaucrats at that

Perhaps the best thing for Clinton, although I think the Leftist media would not have blamed him for anything even of Algore had won. But for the country, thank God that Algore was defeated.

FYI is "for your information."

And "can you ping some people" means I am asking them to "ping" people they know who are interested in this topic.

"Ping" is when you direct your post to them in the TO box on the REPLY page.

That would be the "TO" box on the page when you click on "POST REPLY."

It sends them a "ping" to this thread.

This clown is beyond reach legally, but whoever approved and cleared his book for publication? That person, whoever it is, should start doing hard time. Soon.

"The war in Iraq - if Osama was a Christian - it's the Christmas present he never would have expected," says Scheuer.

Scheuer is correct in the above statement.  Bin Laden thought he was dealing with an administration like that of X42.

The CIA needs to go into a huge contortion leading up to a good puke. The inmates have been running the asylum.

Between Matthews and Scheuer it is hard to say which is lamer or more partisan. I was disgusted by both of them while reading this transcript.

"His main conclusion is that we must accept that we are at war with many Islamics"

What insight the man has.

And is suggestion for winning this war is what?

Appeasement.

"Those are bin Laden's goals."

Yes, and Scheuer proposes appeasing bin Laden by helping him reach his goals and thus end the danger to us that bin Laden poses to us.

Scheuer is a moron, a suck up, and a coward.

"SCHEUER: It has to be a changes in policies"

And th echanges in policies include throwing Israel and our Arab allies to the wolves, pulling our troops out of the middle east, and generally being good little dhimmies.
