I'm wondering if a FReeper with some experience in the arena would like to set up a fund for the Marine who shot that wounded terrorist in the mosque. I get the feeling he is going to be railroaded and will need some help. Whether it be for lawyer's fees, support for his family, or simply just to show him that there are real Americans who support him, I'd like to contribute to such a fund. Suggestions?
i would like to see a statue created commemorating the moment.
Im with you, but the video itself will exonerate him.
I say we hold, and if needed, we attack it
You toucha our guy...we breaka you face......
I can think of some past Presidents who would have done just that. He'd have to do it on national TV right in the Oval Office. It would put the Old Media and the soldier's chain of command on notice not to mess around with him and that the President has his back. There would be no need for an official pardon or anything - the message would be clear.
Actually, I'm afraid that's exactly what Bush will do.
Remember when those reservist pilots killed some Canadians in a Friendly Fire incident early in the Afghan conflict? Bush hung those pilots out to dry. I still think that was highly unfair. If anything, the CO of those pilots should have had to face the music, if there was music to be faced over a tragic error.
Maybe John Kerry can give him some of the millions left over in his Presidential campaign fund. I'm serious. Think what a great move that would be for Kerry! He's not that smart though.
I remember that... My squad went out and put up little flags where we found body parts..
FTR, they were "Princess Pats" - 3rd PPLCI
Good dudes, great shooters.
If he goes through any legal court, it will be a military one and I don't see how they could convict him of anything.
GOD BLESS AMERICANS!!!!!

BullShi! Those guys screwed up. They violated just about EVER ROE. Bush did NOT hang them out to dry. He let the system WORK. INTELLIGENT people realize there is a difference between MINDLESS loyalty and justice.
This Marine DID his job. The pilots failed at theirs. REAL Conservatives realize actions have consequences rather then make excuses when some of ours screw up.
Nothing will happen, trust me
From your mouth to God's ears. God bless you for your service to our country.
I can't sit back and hold. As A former Marine he is one of my brothers. I have contacted the Commandant of the Marine Corps office as I think every one in the Marine Corps League I am in did to. To let him know we are pissed. You know what burns my ass is that everyone that wants this Marine hung never served in combat like me and youand if they did they resent it. I'M telling you if this Marine even gets A page 11 I'M going to be pissed.
Thank you both for your service and God bless you both.
And, Just Dan, I believe you are right as I think the video clearly exonerates him and I don't see how anyone can come to any other conclusion than he shot the guy because he was a perceived threat. A reasonable conclusion, considering the SOP of the terrorists, and a just decision.
What may help this Marine is that he shot the guy after the Elections. If it had been before there would have been bigger calls for his head and the administration may have given him up. Now he may have a chance.
GW can end all this debate in 5 minutes flat.
You don't have to thank me it was an honor for me to serve my country. I know just Dan feels the same way. I thank every one of you who supports this Marine. thank you
