The electoral system in Ohio worked well on Nov. 2. Every eligible voter who wanted to vote had the opportunity to vote. There was no widespread fraud, and there was no disenfranchisement. A half-million more Ohioans voted than ever before with fewer errors than four years ago, a sure sign of success by any measure.

I guess the author missed the fact that we now have to endure a recount here in Ohio thanks to Cobb
Isn't there something really wrong (vote suppressive) about a lack of machines at a precinct that resulted in 8 to 9 hour waits. Could it be that the reason was to cut down the votes at a likely Kerry precinct because many left in disgust?
And how about all those precincts that reported substantially more votes that registrants?
A recount is needed (though it cannot possibly uncover all the problems) and Mr Blackwell must recuse himself from that recount. Apparently only the Libertarians and Greens are interested enough to ask for and pay for that recount to protect the integrity of the system. As things stand I have no idea who won in several key states and I know that Bush has no mandate. In fact he should be ashamed to claim victory, considering how the election ran.
Pathetic. Got those Dim talking points down pat.
You must be kidding. over 3.5 million votes more for the President and you don't think it is a mandate????
I am most impressed with Kenneth Blackwell. He deserves major acolades for keeping everything under control during the Dems hissy fits over election rules, etc., and they knew after it was over, that they couldn't pull a repeat of FLA 2000. I wish Mr. Blackwell the very best, and I hope he will run for governor of Ohio next. The current one, another Taft I think, was virtually invisible during this election.
Take a look at Ohio turnout - 62%
Compared to New York 43% and MA 46%
In Cincinnati, blacks openly recruited, paid for and used every dirty trick in the book to beat Bush.
The whites quietly went and voted for Bush.
If Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson say voters were disinfrenchfried, it must be true.
you are an idiot
Yes, and their reward for a near flawless election? They have to recount the entire state at an estimated cost of one and a half million dollars while the Stupid yahoo's who petitioned for it cough up a mere $130,000 of someone else's money. There is no justice in the world............
Don't be so kind alchemist54.
I don't know how someone could be a member of this forum since 1998 and come off sounding like a screaming scheming liberal nut case as you will ever find at DU.
You better recheck your facts. Ohio saw a two-fold increase in the number of black voters who went for Bush in '04.
How's that for your petty "black/white" mindset?
I live in central OH and I waited about 2 1/2 hours to vote. I don't know of anyone who waited 8-9 hours. Most people I talked to waited less than an hour, some waited only a few minutes.
There was that one incident where a machine tallied a thousand or so extra votes for Bush. But the error was discovered and the total reported corrected right away. The final tally accounted for the correction. I'm wondering if the same could be said of a 'Rat state where the tally included extra votes for the 'Rat candidate? We all know of the shenanigans the Gore people pulled in 2000, like a few extra ballot boxes showing up in the trunk of a car in New Mexico, with almost all of the ballots marked for Gore, so he "just happened" to win the state by a few hundred votes.
The election workers were incredibly polite and helpful. I saw them assist elderly people in line, helping others who had kids in tow move up the line a little quicker, allowing a lady who needed oxygen bottles to move to the front of the line. No one complained or expressed any discouragement or outrage. I know I didn't.
You might wonder why. Speaking for myself (but likely a common sentiment), I wanted to be there, and I wanted to exercise my right to vote, because I know it is important. Sure, standing in line a long time is inconvenient. I'd rather have done it quicker. But better to wait and do it than not do it at all.
It wasn't precincts that reported more votes than registrants. It was counties. And that can (and has been) easily explained. Many local and statewide offices have voting areas which cross county lines. It's not a difficult concept.
Source Mike, do you have a source?? One other than the deep recesses of a crack addled brain
When you can't get anywhere in the Dim party, you insert yourself into to someone elses party and try to co-opt it. Looks like his cover is blown.
