Ohio To Go Through Statewide Recount

A statewide recount of the presidential vote appears inevitable after a pair of third-party candidates said they have collected enough money to pay for it.
The recount would be conducted after the election results are certified in early December.
Libertarian Michael Badnarik and the Green Party's David Cobb said on Monday they raised more than $150,000 in four days, mostly in small contributions.
Ohio law requires payment of $10 per precinct for a recount, or $113,600 statewide.
Badnarik and Cobb said they aren't trying to overturn President Bush's 136,000-vote victory in Ohio, but just want to ensure that all votes were counted properly in the face of concerns about Election Day irregularities.
"Our bottom line is to stand up for the integrity of the voting process because the voting process is the heart of the democratic process," said Blair Bobier, spokesman for Cobb.
Bobier said it will be worth the price to ensure the final outcome can be trusted.
Carlo LoParo, spokesman for Secretary of State Kenneth Blackwell, said the actual cost to county election boards combined will be about $1.5 million.

Nader is having some wards in NH recounted.
That's an interesting one because Kerry won NH, but they're trying to show that touch screens are unreliable.
BUT, Ohio doesn't use touchscreens much, so we'll be back to watching them peer at hanging chads.

Looks to me, from the article, like the individual counties will have to absorb the cost.
Not the state, but the counties!

If they are going to recount in Ohio, then they should recount in Pennsylvania. The margin was closer there, and the Supreme Court has already ruled that selective recounts are unconstitutional.

If it was up to me, the people footing the bill would include every single person working for the Democratic National Committee.
Unfortunately, I don't see that happening.

There were whole counties that reported more votes than registrants. Please name them.
There was horrible vote suppression all over the state.
Could you provide some proof of that allegation? Even an example?
This was a text book example of dirty tricks overwhelming the real vote.
Again, can you cite any evidence? Or, are you just relying on your own hunches?

Why you people (pun intended) from this stupid libertarian party or constitutional party, do not get all together and make your own delusional website blog where you can spew your delusional theories, bitterness, and hate toward President Bush and the Republican party.
What are you doing here on FR? Get out of here.

They pulled this in Florida in 2000 and Florida became a whole lot redder this time around. People are sick and tired of sore losers calling into question the integrity of our elections.
This is nothing more than a PR stunt. If the recount vote is off by even 1 vote from the original, the mantra will be that people's votes didn't count, Bush stole the election again, blah, blah.
