Marine Mosque Shooting Correspondent Kevin Sites Has "Art" Photos On Anti-War Site
November 17, 2004 | self

"Friends, photographers and artists ... were invited to give their visual statement against war." -imagesagainstwar.com NBC correspondent Kevin Sites, who reported on the Fallujah mosque shooting, has photographs displayed on "Images Against War", a web site devoted to "visual statement against war". A review of the site states, "Most of the great war photographers have been against war in general, and often against the particular wars they were photographing". Was Mr. Sites acting as a unbiased journalist in the mosque, or as a "artist" against war?

I still don't see how you are drawing these conclusions. He has his own blog. If he was anti-war and working against the troops there would be at least some commentary against the war on his blog. I don't see it.

As far at the images against the war site, I don't the anti-war bias you claim is there in his photos. A couple of photos of prisoners cannot be construed as an anti-war, anti-American bias by anyone other than one who wants to see it.

There is no commentary that I can find on his blog. It is just reporting. Maybe you have become so used to commentary in the news today that you can no longer be objective in your reading.

Again: Yes, he says nice things about the Marines who hold his life in their hands. Is it possible he had other motives for saying such nice things. Look at his picture. The long hair, the beard. I'm pretty sure the Marines would view this guy as an outsider beyond his status as non-Marine/journalist. If you want that "perfect shot", you have to get the Marines' trust, bond with them. Then they will feel comfortable, let their guard down. Sites worked for CNN, now NBC. I question his motives. Especially after seeing his imagesagainstwar.com submissions.

I don't know what all the rules are with inbed reporters, but the NBC personell who decided to release this to the pool, including Al Jazera, who is broadcasting the end of the event unedited and broadcasting the marine's name, are aiding and abetting the enemy. I would love to see some NBC exec tried and executed or imprisoned for treason if the case could be made. I know, hell will freeze over first.

How a clueless evolution-deprived suicidal slimeball like this one gets imbedded with our fighting men blows my mind.

I have no problem with his unwillingness to fight to save himself and his family, that's simply natural selection at work; but having him actively working as an "impartial" agent of the enemy, in results if not in intent (I am being charitable), can only be described in one word: unacceptable.

It would be nice if the MSM asks the question. Of course, it would have been nice if they asked President Kerry...I mean junior Senator Kerry why he refused to sign the 180 also. They never got around to it. Hopefully, the blogs will ask the question regarding Sites before the MSM hangs the Marine out to dry in their never ending quest to tarnish President Bush.

I'd love to see this POS inbred "reporter" brought up on charges of deliberately withholding crucial information from those Marines which attributed to the death of the Iraqi.

The "reporter" failed to report vital info only he had knowledge of. I don't see why Sites is not held more guilty than the Marine who shot the Iraqi.

I wanted to villify this guy too, at first. I looked objectively at his site. I can find no commentary just reporting. Don't you think that if he was as anti-war as you and other claim his site would be frought with anti-war commentary?

I have looked through the site and have seen some pretty complimentary stuff about our soldiers. I just don't see the anti-war bias you see.

As for the pix on the imagages against the war site, I still say he may have sent other photos but the ones posted were chosen by the site.

...the marines should be eliminating every percieved threat at their discretion.

And anyone who isn't "OK" with that should stay the hell out of a combat zone.

Most of the great war photographers have been against war in general...

Being agains war generally is a good thing. Doing so by aiding the enemy is not.
It doesn't require a lot of intellectual horsepower to make that distinction.

This is outragous. NBC should be scolded.

Right on all counts. Unfortunately, his motives will never get questioned. Some FR's will discuss Sites and his motives in the middle of the night, and it will be gone by morning.

Fortunately, you're wrong.
Have you seen the thread approaching 1000 replies specifically in support of the young Marine? The "reporter" gets his share of criticism there big time. This story is not going quietly away...

You guys want to trash Sites. I see his site as being pretty objective.

If aiding a savage, primitive and murdering enemy through thoughtlessness is within your definition of "objective", good luck to you.

First, if my very life depended on the Marines, if they were the sole protection I possessed while roaming around a combat zone unarmed, I would not hazard to insult them with my anti-war beliefs (Marines I know don't tend to be sympathetic to Leftist anti-war mewlings, especially if they are the subject of such mewlings). So I would say nice things about them.
Second, if I was an outsider trying to gain the enemies trust, I would not say bad things about them. I would say good things about them. I would ingratiate myself. I would act like their best friend until that moment I got what I wanted (in Sites case, the story of his journalistic life- his career is assured in the MSM with this one). Spies go out of their way to say the right things to insure that they are not discovered before their mission is complete.

Okay. You see something I don't. I hope I am right but if I am wrong I would like to see him villified. But, there is no evidence to show what you suggest.
