Maybe they can apply to Jimmy for tips if they fail to steal this election. The Dems already have the taint of the 2000 failure. The communists are going to be none too happy if their recruits in King County screw this up.

Scoop's legacy survives in a number of places. There are a good many Scoop Jackson Democrats in the legislature and in different state offices. They constitute the sane wing of the Democratic Party.
I can imagine what Scoop would think of today's Democratic Party. He probably would have joined Zell Miller at the podium.

Given the number of votes the Libertarian candidate for governor of Washington is getting and maybe siphoning from the Republican, this would be a good time for Republicans and Libertarians in Washington state to smoke a peace pipe and find out if there is any common ground on the budget or taxes or something.

I can imagine what Scoop would think of today's Democratic Party. On a range of issues HMJ would have been outraged, including and especially on those relating to values and opinions on our military. Of course, it is now a different time twenty+ years past his death. But the Demo party has left behind many, many folks that Scoop represented well in Washington State. IMO Rossi now speaks for a vast majority of them.

Nope, wrong Rossi. We are talking about the state senator from Washington running for governor on the GOP ticket. As Gilda Radner used to say, "Nevermind."

Actually the State website only lists about 6,100 votes out and 1,000 are from King County. I believe these are the provisional ballots that will be allowed.
It's gonna be a squeaker.
Rossi up by 19; probably won't change until tomorrow morning.

Actually it's simply better to educate the public into who and what the LP is. That will take care of the problem.

California also has split offices (Schwarzenegger - r, Gov. Bustamante - D, Lt. Gov.)

I know Texas and Virginia elect the Gov. and Lt. Gov. seperately as well. W won by a mile in '98 but the LG race was pretty close. George Allen had a rat LG when he was Covernor.
To: GoldwaterBooster
Whew! Close. Recount will be demanded.

But that was due to the special circumstances of the Recall election? Right? Normally they would run together in California or not?

I assume that this meets the automatic recount threshold -- any ideas how long the recount will take?

Washington public school educations...counting takes a while.A place where 2 + 2 = 5 or it may = 3 depending upon upon the teacher. We don't want little Johnny to feel bad.

If by this time tomorrow the margin between the two candidates is less than 2,000 votes there will be an automatic recount paid for by the state.

Separate positions, separately elected. We've had Democrats in the Lt. Gov with Republicans in the Gov seat before, though it's generally rare. The Lt. Governor position can be a powerful one, if handled by an extreme rump head.. The laws in the state give the Lt. Gov full powers whenever the Gov is out of the state. A strong Lt. Gov could do some real damage while the Gov was, oh, say at a party convention or at an inauguration.

Remember, little Johnny will grow up and be called Heather.
Humor break folks: if you ever get the chance to visit booking at the RJC or King County Jail (hopefully not as a customer) ask the fingerprint techs to show you some of the booking photos of ladies of the night. I can guarantee you that if the prostitute looks hot it's a guy.
And no, I'm only saying this on looking at photos.

Now I remember. Pat Brown was a Democrat and Lt. Gov. Mike Kurb was a Republican who would not let Brown travel out of state without worrying about it.
