ATHENS, Nov 16 (Reuters) - Scuffles broke out on Tuesday between Muslim Greeks and a television crew filming an episode of a popular series near a mosque in northeastern Greece, police said.

They said about 400 Muslim Greeks in the village of Echinos, angered by the presence of actresses not wearing head scarves near the entry of the mosque, gathered around the television crew demanding they leave.

"Were you aware you won the revolution against the Ottomans?"

Gee, we did? I didn't know that! Eleni, did you know that? What kind of stupid question is this, muawiyah????

"On the other hand, were you aware the Greeks were ready to sell out to the Godless Communistis back in the early 1950s and it was up to the United States to save their chestnuts from the fire?"

My uncles fought in that civil war for the Patrida and the King! Cousins were killed by the communists while defending Greece. The communists came to our village and desecrated the churches and hung men and women from every tree in the town square. I've seen the pictures to prove it! And then when the communists who did that were caught, they were killed to the last man...by my relatives! I go to church every Sunday with men, and women, who fought for "King and Country" in that war. I sat at the parish council meeting last night next to a man who is a decorated hero of the civil war, decorated by King Paul himself for heroism. And my ancestors, and I suspect Eleni's, killed more than their share of Mohammadens in a revolution against Islamic overlords which lasted nearly 100 years in Greece because they wanted to be a free Christian people! America used to respect that. Now the "neo-cons" seem to have re-written history. Is this Sumarian stuff part of the new neo-con creed? Will that be the neo-cons' justification for tolerating the monstrosities against Orthodox Christianity in Kosovo and occupied Cyprus?

Greece with American aid (not an American Army) was the only country in Europe to fend off a communist insurgency. The Greek people to this day are thankful for that. But for you, who know nothing of Greece or Greeks, or of the suffering of our people throughout WWII, the civil war and the post civil war period, when we lost a substantial percentage of the Greek people to killings, disease and starvation, to sarcastically denigrate the struggle of Greeks to maintain their freedom by saying they were willing to "sell out" to Godless communism is a base and outrageous canard.

"To a degree it can be argued that today's free society in Greece, which has not been stained with the sort of recent exterminations experienced by the Serbs (under Tito), is a tribute to the modernization of Turkish society under the Republic."

This is absurd! Nowadays it is easy, and sometimes quite valid, to take pot shots at the Greek government for what we often perceive to be a less than serious foreign policy. Greece is on the one hand often its own worst enemy and on the other, usually motivated by what it sees as being in its own self interest...just like America. Greece's regional and ethnic and national interests are not necessarily in sync with our global concerns, but that is no reason to besmirch the very real struggles and heroism of the Greek people and the memory of those Greeks who died for freedom!

BTW, tell your elders thanks for killing all those Commies, but think about where the Greek Commies came from.

Those are the Greeks to whom I referred as willing to sell out the nation to the Commies.

Happy now?

Oh, we know where they came from. We even knew their names. It made it easier to kill them.
