Can the Pentagon charge Kevin Sites?

Posted on 11/16/2004 1:07:33 PM PST by nothernlights

Was not the reporter under the duty to hand over this tape to military authorities, under the rules of imbeds? If that's the case then strong measures should be taken against Sites. Also has Sites been removed from that Marine unit, because at this point i"m sure his presence is a distraction to the Marines and therefore endangers their lives. Sites has to be removed from that unit at the very least.

Once again the point is that "you "do not know the rules of imbed. But I am sure there is vetting of material involved by military. So stop acting like you know everything. You actually know on more then anybody else and you sre too close minded to reflect for 1 minute that maybe Sites himself was in breach of some rules.

You are upholding the finest traditions of the Corps.
This incident will be investigated, and would have been investigated weather the reporter was there or not.
The fact that his footage was not given to the military
does not reflect any credit to the reporter.

You self-righteous sanctimonious little prick!

Here are our Marines going to battle in awful circumstances so you can sit on your fat ass behind your computer and pontificate.

You are no FReeper.

Here's another "journalist" traitor.

Susan Lindauer..."righteous journalist".

This bitch is getting off easy, because we have dumbed down the standards for statist lawyers and reprobates. The Constitution was written for the common man and for Christian's sense of Justice. Common law represents God's law. American Justice may seem rough and crude to you, but it is based on godly liberties. Sites is in a WAR ZONE. He has aided the enemy. If he cared about what was going he should have ran back to the brass...not to MSNBC. He's either looking for a pulitzer or he's effin traitor. Either way...he's done. A jury should decide. This man should be brought up on charges immediately.

If it's not a crime, why are folks here screaming for Sites to be killed for showing it?

First, I don't want the punk killed, I'd just like to see his hair mussed. Jaws wired shut for a few months, food through a straw, that kind of thing.

Second, Sites knew what the reaction of the MSM would be over this footage, because he's a member of their fraternity. I object to his betrayal of our troops. Kevin Sites is a traitor.

We seem to have gotten away from the original thread here....

What were Sites' ROE (Rules of Embedding), and where is he tonight?

My email to the Commandant and my congressman stated that Sites should be removed from the field of battle pending investigation of his ROE. He gave the video first to a foreign news service (Reuters) and did not pass same on to the DOD for investigation.
Faces and nametapes of our Marines were clearly visible on the Arab TV broadcasts, proving that he took no effort to protect the identities of the Marines pending investigation.

Was this legal under his agreement with the DOD?

Having been a Marine doesn't give you anymore credentials in this debate. There have been more than a few former Vietnam combat vets who have shown their true colors in the last year, and they don't deserve my respect. One decorated veteran that comes to mind is Wesley Clark. There are many, many other examples. I wouldn't want to depend on that twerp to cover my back in a fight.

My understanding from press accounts is that the Marines in the field are rallying to his cause in a major way. They are not second-guessing him. They are standing should to shoulder with their comrade. One Marine staff seargent was quoted today as saying that he would have put two slugs in the jihadist. But, I guess, those men are just not "upholding the finest traditions of the Corps."

Agreed. We can't allow the naysayers and second guessers to turn this into another My Lai and William Calley. The glass half empty group needs to be brought under submission. They're looking for any thing they can use to get their foot in the door and bring about another end like we had in Vietnam. We can't let their voices be heard over our own.

We weren't there, it's not up to us to "second guess"
this incident. The Corps will investigate. Calls to frag
this reporter etc are out of line.

Personally, I stand with the marine, but Poobah is right
about all these calls for action against the reporter just
because some folks don't like what is happening.

Marines don't get a pass, just cause there's a war on,
and neither should reporters.

All we can do is follow this, and pray for justice.

Why the demand that the press not show allegedly OK acts?

Because America's enemies will not spend a single second analyzing what actually happened and will gleefully portray the video as a clear cut case of murder regardless of the facts.

Because America's Liberal media will do likewise if it suits their political agenda.

Words are the ideal medium for complex situations.

Photos and videos are the medium of communication for those who don't want to be bothered with thinking. They are therefore the red meat of hate propaganda.

When the Abu Grahib case was described in words, the news media yawned.

When the red meat of the Abu Grahib photos came out, the Liberal news media and America's enemies went into a propaganda blitz that nearly derailed the American war effort.

Poobah is right about all these calls for action against the reporter just because some folks don't like what is happening.

It is called exaggeration to make a point. No one wants to actually kill the SOB, but the indignation at the reporter's scurrilous behavior is extremely strong. I sure hope some Marine chef spits in his food or someone fills his boots with sh!t.

I'm glad you stand with the Marine in question, but that doesn't change the fact that this punk Sites betrayed the guys he was depending on to protect him. If it hadn't been for Sites' betrayal, we never would have heard of this. And you guys all know it. It's Kevin Sites who deserves to be held in contempt and who deserves the losing end of a bar fight.

There's nothing lower than a man who will sell out his countrymen for a rung up on the ladder. Sikes' name could be Kerry.
