A Word About U.S. Marines(Some in the press get it)
Fox - Rick's Rambles ^ | Nov. 10, 2004 | Rick Leventhal

Posted on 11/16/2004 10:29:16 AM PST by dinok

I’m not sure if I know any of the Marines or soldiers fighting now in Fallujah, but I have a pretty good idea of who they are, and what they’re made of.

They’re mostly young, and mostly tough. Some are scared, and some are itching for the fight, but most just want to get the job done as quickly and cleanly as possible.

They come from small towns and big cities. They finished high school or dropped out. They’re planning to go to college when they get out of the service, or they have a job waiting for them back home, or they might just make the military their career.

They have wives or girlfriends and miss them terribly. They keep their loved one’s picture close, sometimes taping it to the visor of their Humvee or the interior of their armored vehicle, or in a special pocket of their fatigues.

They played baseball or football or both, and they’ve still got game.

They’re respectful, focused, and dedicated, and they don’t complain. They do their job quietly and efficiently. During downtime, they may talk smack, but they look and act like they can back it up.

They’re patriotic, and brave, risking their lives to do a job few others are willing or able to do…and they deserve our respect.

Rick should find that punk from NBC and kick his ass for the Marines (who have bigger fish to fry right now). Be sure to videotape it for posterity.

Instapundit.com cites a commentator who notes that Kerry got a silver star for the same thing.

If they put boxing gloves on and allowed our guys/gals to cream the left wing wussies, I would watch those shows.

"Is Rick a reservist?"

I don't think so. He was with the Marines last year when they marched in to Baghdad. I think they earned his respect and admiration.

Its true...a young VC fired an RPG at Kerry's boat and one of Kerry's crew shot the guy who crawled away in the bush. Kerry jumped off the boat and shot the guy as he was crawling away.

Our "misunderstood" enemy killed a women today. Gloves need to be taken off now. I can care less about one lousy non uniformed terrorist. Soldiers having been doing this for centuries. In the Pacific during WWII the Marines called it "possum hunting". Another thing. Has the enemy offered any quarter to our soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines or CIVILIANS! No! You get caught by them they chop your head off. Not like the Japanese in WWII with a finely sharpened samurai sword butt a dull flat blade. Slow and painfully. You know what's happening while they do it. The scum also have the nerve to video it for the world to see. They have no honor. They use religion as a cover to do what they please. I say all enemy combatants taken under arms against coalition forces not wearing a uniform, and ski masks doesn't count, should be put under military tribunal and shot. In the Arden's during WWII the US caught several German sabetours who dressed like US Servicemen. They were tried and executed in 48 hours. All of this was filmed knowing the German Soldiers would see it and think twice about doing it again. Mission is priority not getting wounded enemy out. Again the MSM trying to dirty up the Victory in Falluja. Well they got their "deadline" and they love it. More blood to show for those death merchants.

No Rick is not a reservist but he was embedded when US first invaded Iraq. He did a really good job of reporting in very difficult circumstances. Remember the sandstorms, he would report with sand so thick, you couldn't see him.

Then, they would have chemical warnings and have to get in their chem suits and sit inside the tanks for hours.

When they finally got to Baghdad, the group he was with were walking down the middle of the street as moving targets to draw fire from hiding terrorists.

He had probably seen the servicemen in every situation and should know first hand how brave they are.

I think it was either Rick Leventhal, or the other Fox imbed guy during '03, that had been a Marine Harrier pilot.

Quite a change roaring around in an invasion with a camera from flying in the thin air.

Thanks.

I remember that he did a great job as an embedden reporter with the Marines in phase I of the Iraqi war.
