MARINE IN SHOOTING PROBE (yes...by the UN...gaggg)

The United Nations has called for an investigation into a series of alleged abuses in the Iraqi city of Fallujah.

Human rights official Louise Arbour said those responsible for any violations should be brought to justice.

Controversy over the Fallujah offensive was fuelled by video footage showing a US Marine shooting dead a wounded and unarmed Iraqi.

The pictures showed some marines entering the mosque on Saturday.

The marine, who has since been taken off battlefield duty, is seen standing above a figure slumped against a wall aiming his rifle at the man's body.

"He's f****** faking he's dead," the soldier is heard to shout. "He's breathing... he's f****** faking he's dead."

A shot rings out, and the words: "He is now" can be heard on the video.

US broadcaster NBC said the dead man, one of about five pictured inside the mosque, was an unarmed insurgent who had been discovered the previous day and been left to await medical attention.

The reports said the unnamed marine involved had been wounded in the face the day before the killing but had returned to duty almost immediately.

Another soldier had died moving the booby-trapped body of an insurgent.

The US military has begun an investigation into possible war crimes over the incident.

The First Marine Division said it wanted to determine whether the marine acted in self-defence, violated military law or failed to comply with the international Law of Armed Conflict.

This makes me absolutley furious. I'd like to see those criticizing this marine in the same situation. I wonder what they'd do?????

Prayers for the marine and his family. Many thanks for the way in which he has protected America and Americans.

Human rights official Louise Arbour said those responsible for any violations should be brought to justice.

Is Mr. Arbour going to bring the terrorists in Falluja who are responsible for 'violations' to justice?

Bear in mind that if President Bush had not put a stop to it, that this soldier and his whole chain of command would be subject to the dumb International Criminal (kangaroo) Court. It is highly likely sKerry would have reinstated that.

After the leak by El Baradai a week before the election, Kofi's continual anti-Americanism, are we surprised by this?

One has to be a moron to get that close to a terrorist in Iraq knowing how they strap explosives on their butts to kill westerners?

Amen to that. I can't help but think of the climactic scene in The Professional with the dying hit man extending his hand to the dirty police officer and handing him the pin to a grenade.

This reporter should be thankful that the marines were there to protect him from these terrorists.

I guess that should read Ms. Arbour.

The UN has lots of human rights abuses in Fallujah which they can investigate.

Of course everything you cited should be investigated by any decent international organization.

But it doesn't work that way and we know it.

If someone farts too loud in Israel the UN wants an investigation. Arabian Terrorists get flags flown at half mast, yada, yada.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry over this brouhaha. The American people are never going to buy this. These liberals and the UN need to pick their battles a little better.

My Lai was a good battle. That soldier shooting dead someone who HAD been shooting at him and with a split second to make the decision had to disenable a possible ambush, NOT a good battle. Maybe before the election I wouldn't have been so sure. But no way Jose is this any kind of PR battle on which to hang your hat.

Which brings me to why I want to laugh in victory. Because this issue is such a non-issue it's making even more transparent the UN and liberal bias. Before when The Old Media did this sort of thing we were in the heat of an election with the Dems around to fan the flames.

Now? Hey, Americans have said their piece and now this nonsense?

So what should I do? Laugh or cry?

Thank you for linking that article. I'd missed it earlier. I have been on the fence as to whether to actively get involved in the antiSpecter movement. That caps it for me.

"Human rights official Louise Arbour said those responsible for any violations should be brought to justice"

I'd love to see this French Canadian B**CH just try.
This is not a frog eating contest, hussy.
This is American soldiers lives at risk form maniacal terrorist killers
We are going to continue to kill them whenever we come across them, Louise Arbour or no Loiuse Arbour.
How about that Frenchie?

Kevin Sites, the TV reporter embedded with the Marines, said the man who was shot to death didn't appear to be armed or threatening in any way, and there were no arms visible in the room.

I hereby nominate Mr. Sites to be our official point man in Iraq for checking out all apparently wounded and dead terrorists before we let the Marines and soldiers anywhere near them.

I think this story will quickly fade away no matter how hard the MSM pushes. The US public is just not interested in it.
