Marine accused of wrongful shooting needs our help...
16 nov 04 | Atlanta

Posted on 11/16/2004 4:34:34 AM PST by Atlanta

I'm going to start with a communication of support of this young Marine, to the Commandant of the Marine Corps himself. Then, President Bush and my Senator/Congressman.They are going to hear from me and I have all friggin day to do it. I am so livid about this that words cannot describe. As a former Marine myself, this young "Leather" was doing what he was trained to do, adapting to unreasonable circumstances (enemy tricks) and he did exactly what I would have done and what has always been done with a fanatical enemy. If authorities hang this Marine out to dry, I will never stop raising hell and will become a point man for pulling these guys out of theater entirely...MSM is SICK. Other suggestions?

I agree as A former Marine and Desert Storm veteran I would have done the same thing to.

Roger that!!!!

I am also a Gulf War vet (2nd MarDiv) and I would have also reacted the same way. Our instructions in the Gulf War were to take prisoners, but they had to be clearly surrendering with their hands in the air and their weapons pointed down or backwards

There was an incident where an Iraqi tank regiment tried to surrender, and they had been given detailed instructions that their gun turrets had to be pointed backwards. They had forgotten that. A TOW missile took out the lead tank. The rest quickly turned their turrets around.

Thanks....yes it looks like the anti- troops & anti-Bush Media is trying real hard to find a scapegoat for their very sick twisted views. With the lack of uniforms on the enemy and no front lines, this Marine did the right thing to protect himself and others.

Im with you all the way. Why couldnt NBC turn this tape over to the pentagon? Why did they have to play it for the MSM? Dont they know we are in a time of war and that doing stuff like this now is exposing our brave solders and Americans over there to all kinds of horrific acts. What can we do? Write or e-mail NBC and let them know we will know longer watch? Also MSNBC has to feel the heat on this. Chris Mathews is out of control!

I, as I imagine many of you am so tired of the media and their biases, arrogrance and hatred of our country. I really believe that we need to organize an effort against the media.

Perhaps we should write our congress people, senators, FCC and the media outlets themselves. We should write their advertisers and if you are not already boycotting them, begin now. If we don't do something these media pigs are going to continue to drag us down the same path.

I believe the media is just as dangerous as the terrorists to this country.

You got it and we have to beat this drum. The enemy is the MSM, not our brave Marines.

Chrissy Mathews is harping on this again, from his decidedly pro-terrorist point of view.

I also am outraged. This is a war with barbaric radicals. Every American should let our voice be heard on this matter. I believe the young Marine was doing his job...How dare he have to come under insult from the government he is representing. (namely, us!) We as Americans are "the government" and it's time we speak up and take our government back. Bush understands that "we" are the government, but he can't make changes without us standing up for what we know is right. He has stated repeatedly that he has "taken a stand", can we do less?

Thank you for the report from "on the ground"...it's tough to get the full news picture from over here, and as you can see on this thread, there are those who would put even more restrictions on news getting to our citizenry. :-(

I wasn't sure what the details were on the anti-Islamic-violence demonstrations, and would welcome any follow-ups you might be able to provide if the situation worsens or improves!

I don't believe the Geneva Convention applies here. We are fighting an insurrectionist uprising at the request of the legitimate Government of Iraq and the people we are killing are not in uniform. So why does the Geneva convention have any relevance here?

Chris Mathews is out of control!

Not taken up for Chris but I just finished watching a segment regarding this matter and he (Chris) and his guest (including a female reporter) that was embedded with some of the Marines did a very balanced report.

I will post the transcript when it is available.

I had to hit mute while listening to Matthews just now.

A small, small man.

If you haven't done so yet- PLEASE call the PR office for the Marine Corps: 703-614-2500 They are still answering this number- and are extremely appreciative of the support we are offering.

Text of email sent POTUS and VPOTUS..posted from another thread

Mr. President, Please exercise your "capital" to pardon the Marine in Fallujah who shot the Iraqi who he thought was faking death in the mosque in Fallujah. There are several mitigating circumstances including:
1. The pace of operations
2. The duration of operations
3. He was wounded in the face by enemy fire the previous day
4. IED's have been rigged to dead bodies
5. Surrender attempts have been used as decoys by terrorist fighters
6. The terrorists hands cannot be seen in the video
7. Our soldiers have to make split-second judgments, and they get it right 99.9% of the time
8. The terrorists murder women (Margaret Hassan) without compunction
9. Beheadings
10. The terrorists are fighting to the death. What should make these Marines think other wise of this terrorist?
11. You sent him over there to kill terrorists, that is what he is doing

Thank you for your support of our troops.
Please do not jump on the media bandwagon and condemn this loyal warrior.

I am infuriated about this Marine being accused of possible war crimes. I guess that the "Fog of War" that is spoken about in the required by all Marines in FMF-01 War Fighting manual gets thrown out the window when the CMSM wants to blacken my beloved Corps eye in a brash PR move. Anyone have a letter that they have sent to their congressman/Marine Corps PR office they could email me so I could express my opinions to My congressman as well? I am only coming up with gross profanities that would get my letter thrown out.

I flipped over to ABC news at 8 minutes into their news, and they had video of Rush and Sean talking about the media's rush to judgement regarding the Marine, and then... I'll be damned if they didn't show FreeRepublic as the example of a conservative website. The quoted a post saying something about the Marines should do the imbeds after they do the terrorists.

Anyone else see that?

This is war. The poor marine is doing his job and a desperate liberal media stabs the marine in the back with this report. Maybe someday people will quit watching.
As long as liberals buy the products advertized on their news shows, the alphabet networks will have an audience.

did you see the intro, before he had the guests? He was introducing the segment by saying a Marine that shot and killed an unarmed, injured man.

The two guests, both embeds, now and previously were very fair and seemed to take the prevailing opinion that no one that wasn't in the Marine's shoes, could make an accurate statement that he shouldn't have done it.

That doesn't excuse Chris, he was fishing for a negative slant and they weren't giving it to them, to their credit.

Have you been watching the part about Condi Rice? Chris Mathews is a pig!!
