I'm going to start with a communication of support of this young Marine, to the Commandant of the Marine Corps himself. Then, President Bush and my Senator/Congressman.They are going to hear from me and I have all friggin day to do it. I am so livid about this that words cannot describe. As a former Marine myself, this young "Leather" was doing what he was trained to do, adapting to unreasonable circumstances (enemy tricks) and he did exactly what I would have done and what has always been done with a fanatical enemy. If authorities hang this Marine out to dry, I will never stop raising hell and will become a point man for pulling these guys out of theater entirely...MSM is SICK. Other suggestions?
Damn the media!
Thank you for the info. I will never get their products. I am soooo livid. I was watching this on Fox and Friends and Brian Kilmeade was fit to be tied over this. I think if that embedded reporter was there Brian would have knocked him out!
>And I know you used the word apparently, but how about we wait for the investigation and any legal action, if it's required, before we go there?
You got it EXACTLY!
Try the decaf.
Has there ever been legal deals struck, laws bent, behind closed doors Mr Verity? Ever think political animals ever succumb to organized opinions of many? U S Marine Corps is one organization that places a high if not the highest premium on what the American public thinks about it. The Marine Corps over the years has maintained itself, many times , fighting off attempts to disband the Corps by having a public relations machine second to none. CMC knows there are many parents of potential Marines watching how they handle this young man. You get a little of where I'm coming from verity? Ladies a Gentlemen, ASSAULT ON ALL FRONTS. Make the calls. Save this Marine from a ruined life by PC. We can make a difference. As we did a few weeks ago.
Hell, I took a 7.62x39, some shrap and two dung-dipped pungi sticks in RVN. This is easy.
"Aint no big thing, man!"
Be well.
RIGHT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
since you are a lady, i will restrain my tongue.
Instead, i strongly recommend you re-read that post.
I was replying to someone else, and just forgot to put quotations around them..
Take a look. Dont be so quick to judge
Try pulling your head out.
HOOAH Rakkasans:)
Do you see how many people are totally misunderstanding your points here? I think they're taking the quotes you're responding to, and assuming you wrote it.
Thanks, prairie.
"I'm on hold with them now. I never know what to say during calls like this. Any suggestions so that I don't sound like a babbling idiot??"
I just told them what I thought about the situation, that the marine thought the man was "faking death" as is clearly evident from the video, and acted. I also told them I thinnk that embedding reporters is a BAD idea.
I've read a couple reports about him being under contract for NBC
Just thought it was interesting that he's getting paid by NBC, but yet gives his reporting and video to Reuters
What if we sent him $20 each?
What if he bacame a millionare?
:)
LOL!
So perhaps we should look further up to see who created this unclear situation, eh? Our goof in prisoner handling shouldn't be license to shoot a prisoner for just moving. Perhaps the man who was shot (I won't say "victim") was unconcious when they first checked, and just now became concious--if so, should he have been shot just for coming to? In that case, the problem would have been that they hadn't identified the dead well enough, earlier.
However, I'm not sure how clear the situation is. There's still not enough information out in the public realm, to my knowledge, to make a determination. The message has to keep getting out, regardless, is that the enemy is not playing by the same rules, and while we shouldn't stoop to their level, the international and domestic public should keep the terrorists' methods of false surrender, etc., in mind.
I just called NBC Washington. It took four calls being hung up on until they put me through to some manager.
I think NBC was ready to be given the Pulitzer Prize for this story and they are in shock how it is being received.
CALL NOW AND COMPLAIN

"If the reporter believed that a crime had been committed, wasn't he obligated . . . "
if he TRULY believed a crime was BEING or about to be committed, he was obligated to try to STOP it, not put it on film . . . It is quite obnoxious to calmly film the situation, then run to the TV screens with an alleged war crime. ALL people have an obligation to not commit war crimes, himself included. This has bothered me. IF IT WAS SO CLEAR CUT, SO EASY, the reporter could have done something. Run over to the wounded guy and see how he was doing etc.
