Urgent! Fight the Far Right....
Voice Support for Senator Specter Today!

Dear WISH Friend, (no way are they my friend!)

We hope you'll join The WISH List this week in voicing strong support for U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter's impending appointment as Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee for the upcoming Congress.

This is important.

Senator Specter, R-PA, an outstanding pro-choice advocate in the U.S. Senate, is next in line to Chair the Judiciary Committee, which considers all presidential appointments to fill federal judgeships and U.S. Supreme Court vacancies. Recently, Senator Specter has come under fire from the far right, which is mounting a full-scale campaign to block him from the chairmanship. They have announced plans for a "pray-in" and other demonstrations this week in an effort to convince Senate Republican leaders to pass over Specter during the assignment of chairmanships.

The WISH List is joining with other moderate Republican organizations in urging its members to contact key Republicans on Capitol Hill to reaffirm our support for Senator Specter and to raise our voices against this move to bypass the Senate seniority system and block Senator Specter from the chairmanship.

You can help! Please contact key members of the Senate Judiciary Committee NOW, by phone or email, and tell them how much you support Senator Specter. Consider saying something such as this:

"I am a Republican and I support Senator Specter as the rightful Chairman of the Judiciary Committee. I urge the Senate to respect Senate tradition and to ignore the misleading tactics attempting to strip the Senator of this position."

WISH urges you to let the following key GOP senators (see list below) know that the majority of Americans believe Specter will make a tremendous Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. Thank you in advance for joining WISH in fighting for moderate Republican interests on this important issue!

Thank you,

Pat Carpenter

How I ended up on their email is anyone's guess! Did anyone else get this and if so, are you a member of a Republican Women's Club? Trying to find out how I ended up on their list.

Who knows.

Anyway, Specter is a turd and by no means should he be the head of the judiciary committee.

I bet they wish you weren't on their list now.

Time to take action and call these people to OPPOSE Senator Specter's nomination.

Couldn't believe it when I tracked down who these people are -- not have to find out how I ended up on their email list! I never heard of them and do not remember receiving correspondence from them before.

As I was posting this, that thought did occur to me! Picked the wrong person to put on their mailing list. And if OFRW sent him in my email, they are going to regret me becoming President of our Republican Women's Club tomorrow night! :)

I finally went to their website after googling and finding WISH near the bottom of the page -- they are a pro-abortion group of moderate (I call them liberal) women. I got this in my email and was taken back as I cannot find where they have sent me any emails in the past.

Senator Cornyn knows my opinion. Frankly, he ought to be chairman. He was both attorney general and a justice on the Texas Supreme Court.

And he knows very little about Scottish law.

Thank you for this post.

I know you are on many of the key RNC lists. It pains me to no end to think that the Spectorites have gained access to any such lists. Grrrr...

Consider saying something such as this: "I am a Republican . . ."

Typical of rats. No integrity whatsoever. That's one of the major reasons they lost the election.

Senator Cornyn is a good man. I'd be thrilled to have him in such a position.

But our only chances right now are Grassley or Kyl, as you know.

I agree. 10 years from now, if we still control the Senate, Cornyn would be an excellent choice.

If it were strictly on merit and qualifications, he'd get it now. But if those were the criteria, we wouldn't be talking about Specter at all.

I have never understood the anti-child people. It's very easy to understand life. Sperm meets egg and that "blob" grows until it dies of old age, car accidents, abortion, etc...
