ABC 20/20 Agrees: Matthew Shepard Murdered During Robbery, Not Hate Crime The 1998 Matthew Shepard murder, portrayed as a hate crime because Shepard was homosexual, was in fact a bungled burglary and not motivated by hate, according to a new ABC 20/20 investigation, which confirms a MassNews exclusive published at the time. However, ABC did not reveal that this legend was begun by Pinch Sulzberger (using the power of both the New York Times and the Boston Globe which he had just inherited) to begin his plan of imposing homosexual marriage across the entire nation, beginning in Massachusetts. According to 20/20, the murder set in motion a drive to promulgate hate-crime laws to protect homosexuals from discrimination, with the principal proponent being Sen. Edward Kennedy. ABC has now interviewed the killers, which revealed that the two made a bargain with the court that they would not speak to the media in exchange for an agreement sparing them the death penalty. They are both serving consecutive, double-life sentences. Shepard was a college student beaten to death by McKinney and Henderson in Laramie, Wyoming. MassNews re-ran a summary of their exclusive story last Friday, advising all conservative candidates in the future that they must candidly discuss these issues about homosexuality with the voters or they will never win election or re-election. ABC was timid about going up against Sulzbergers hoax, saying: This new information in no way diminishes the importance of the national conversation that took place after Matthew Shepard's murder." Their story is slated to air on Nov. 26.

I've lived in Wyoming and a big chunk of my family still does. 'You mind your business, we'll mind ours' should be the state motto. You're right about a lot of the hateful things out-of-staters wrote.
I can easily believe that Shepherd got into a fight with a couple of drunk opportunistic criminals. Was he killed because he was a homosexual? I doubt it. Young guys routinely call each other derogatory names in a fight. Did they enjoy pounding him more if they knew he was gay? Maybe. If he'd been straight would they have stopped? No.
I don't see how you are any less dead if you are killed for criminal reasons instead of a hate crime.
I think that has changed at least on the West Coast. The gay male homosexual agenda pushers from the mayor of Gay Frisco are really pushing the gay marriage issue out here.
Except that the "national conversation" was promulgated by Shepard's murder being caused by the killers' hatred of homosexuality, which, apparently, wasn't their reason for killing him. ABC's verbiage here is remarkably similar to Dan Rather's--"The documents may be false but the story is true"--semi-mea culpa.

My sentiments exactly!!
Exactly. The notion that the "national conversation" concerning Shepard had just been dubbed "fake but accurate" is the first thing I thought when reading that part.
Qwinn
I never knew these two criminals attacked other people that night.
This is a very interesting thread!

Good Morning Ed.
"you don't haul a guy out into the middle of a field, tie him up to a fence and beat him mercilessly if you just want his wallet".
Do you don't , yet it's not the crime that was reported. It was not a Hate Crime, Many people have been murdered worse than this, yet no one yelled Hate Crime.
But do you drag some guy out to a cow field, tie him to a post, and beat him to death because he's gay? I don't neccessarily buy that either.
This is something psycho's do, regardless of motivation.
Here's another link from the MassNews site:
"revealed that the two made a bargain with the court that they would not speak to the media in exchange for an agreement sparing them the death penalty."
Why is it in the interest of the court to require them not to speak to the media in exchange for a reduced sentence? Was the prosecutor on the hate crime bandwagon, too?
I wouldn't sweat it... no amount of positive publicity is going to help Wyoming look good to the left, since truth is irrelevent to them..and the rest of us whose opinions actually matter never doubted you for a moment..
Plenty of serial killers do worse than that just for the thrill.. and gee.. they kill straight people too..
ABC 20/20 Agrees:
Matthew Shepard Murdered
During Robbery, Not Hate Crime Pingin' a few others .....
I don't hate gays. I hate homosexuality. There is a big difference. You don't hate people, you hate the behavior.
So we have another MSM set up, spin and massive lie to push the left wing agenda.
Why did the DA make part of his deal with the killers a ban on talking to the media? It would be interesting to see what political party he belonged to and if maybe he was light in the loafers.
