That's great news. Criminals should be in prison.

One in every 32 adults imprisoned, on parole or probation

Or you could state it:

31 out of 32 adults not a criminal

Time to build more prisons. If people don't stop breaking the law they are going to go to jail.

The sage words of Richard Pryor come to mind:

"Thank G*d they got penitentiaries!"

"Do you think that we want those laws to be observed? We want them broken. There’s no way to rule innocent men. The only power the government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren’t enough criminals one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws."

3% ?

Really? That's astonishing.

Is it easy to get banged up stateside then?

Over here they only seem to jail sex cases and people who shoot burglars.

Two viewpoints to ponder:

1. We are the only country in which governance expends 99% of it's resources making criminals out of 100% of it's population (remember, government is the least efficient "business" is all aspects except spending money)

2. There 3 types of Liars; Liars, Damn Liars and Statisticians

Get the comfort out of our prisons and the cost won't be so bad. Bread, water, a bed, and a toilet. That's all they should get. That combined with more executions and the populous would save tons of tax money, and the streets would be safer.

Well, considering that the US population is growing, illegal immigration is unchecked, and the standards for acceptable public behavior and willingness to be responsible for one's own actions continue to deteriorate, what's the big surprise?

Hmm, I'm sure I know at least 35 people and not one of them has ever been in prison.
