I hope Frist is a better doctor than he is Senate Majority Leader! But, again, he'd have to be, wouldn't he?

This from a person who won't even claim a state on their "About" page. Don't mind the quaint habits of we "flyover" hillbillies, our opinions never matter. Like you've never misspelled anything before.

Ed Bryant is also on the list. And I expect Van Hilleary to be on it, too.

I don't see either on the list of current GOP Tenn congressmen. You have to presume that a current officeholder has a leg up over a former officeholder. Wamp is a good conservative. I just wonder if Harold Ford will take the jump. I know Imus would be in his camp.

Ford is a fool... I'm amazed that they even let him on TV.

Imus loves him.

Indeed they would. I expect that the one that gets the GOP nomination will be the one with the greatest name recognition I believe that would be Van Hilleary.

Van Hilleary and Bryant have a lot of "free time" on their hands. Are the both of them in semi campaign mode now?

I don't know. Van Hilleary tried for the GOP nomination to take Fred Thompson's vacated seat but I haven't heard anything since. He may be toying with the idea of running against the governor in 2006.

Whoever the Club for Growth endorses will get the nomination. Without the Club for Growth, we'd have RINO Senator-elects Mark Sanford and Kirk Humphries.

For the sake of nitpicking, Van Hilleary ran for Governor against Phil Bresden and lost 51-48. Ed Bryant ran against Lamar Alexander in the Senate primary.

Having run statewide before, Van Hilleary probably starts out with name ID advantage. But, Bryant's old House district covered the Memphis suburbs and much of middle TN. So Bryant could blunt down the appeal Harold Ford Jr. might get in the Memphis metro area. Overall both Van Hilleary and Bryant are strong candidates.

You may be right, and his mettle will truly be tested once Bush makes a Sup Court nominee (assuming Bush doesn't nominate a Souter), but I was speaking merely to the importance of holding this Senate seat, which Frist could do easily.

I heard your message right away. After seeing the post election landscape and MSM analysis I think it is just as important as ever to press the attack with even greater ferocity. Frist's seat must be held. Period. And we need to pick up seats in two of my neighboring states. Boot Dorgan in ND and Nelson, I believe in NB. (NB did not have a single county that voted Kerry.) We MUST advance. We must PACK the Supreme Court with the hardest Right strict constructionist judges that can be found or produced. IT IS NOT TOO EARLY TO BE CONSIDERING THESE ISSUES.

Yeah, but Imus ain't got much of an audience or influence in Tennessee. Young Harold comes from one of the most corrupt political families in the history of the state, and he's not gonna sell outside of Memphis proper and inner city Nashville, Knoxville, and Chattanooga.

I second Marsha Blackburn. She won her spurs helping to stop the state income tax.

Wamp has already said he won't run. Looks like corker, the real-estate magnate!
